YUM! I grew up in New England, but became an avocado-holic when I lived in

California! They really are a great snack- They taste so rich and sinful,

but they're not. I usually sprinkle a bit of salt on it, and it's a little

bit of (green and slimy) heaven! ;)

Incidentally, the harder ones will ripen nicely after purchase if placed in

a brown paper bag loosely closed and stored in a cabinet.

ME TOO

and I'm breed, born, and raised in Michigan.

Mom used to cube them and mix with grapefruit sections and put French dressing

on the whole mess. I love mashing and mixing it with a jar of salsa (temp is up

to you) and a little lime juice (fresh is best) and using it for dipping celery,

carrots, cucumber, chips, you name it. It comes with some great vitamin

benefits too.

So, even though the pit (which you wouldn't eat) is a tree nut, and not the

green part, you'd still go into shock? Wow, that's interesting. I'm so glad

you didn't find out the " hard " way.

For those of us who go into anaphylactic shock from eating a tree nut (ME

ME ME) an Avocado will kill us :)

That would make for much shorter posts from you <VBG>. You should probably

not eat them:-)

OH MY YOU POOR CHILD

what delights you must have to pass up

Carolyn

I am allergic to guacamole dip and I think it's because part of the avocado

touched the nut part!! If I eat something that touched a pecan, a walnut or

whatever I'll go into shock, etc.
