Guest guest
My name is and I just joined the group. I am excited to be here, I have been reading a few of the posts and I think I am in the right place. I have been on many diets over the years, and am completely food obsessed. I just recently figured out that dieting was not working for me! I was fooled into thinking that the " program " I was on was not a DIET, it was a " lifestyle change " ! Ha! It was a diet. I have been caught in the diet/binge cycle ever since I quit smoking 4.5 years ago and gained 50 lbs. I found this program after looking for some help getting over my own diet mentality. I am reading Breaking Free From Compulsive Eating right now. I can finally see how insane my behavior has been jumping from one program to another and always falling off and bingeing. I am a single mom with 2 kids, a 14 yo dau and an 11 yo son. I live in upstate NY. I have been experimenting with inutuitive eating for less than a week. One thing I have already learned is that it is ok for me to eat breakfast! I have given myself permission! Yesterday I got up and told myself that I shouldn't eat until I was hungry. Well, I am never hungry in the morning and I always eat breakfast (took me a long time to learn this). I feel bad if I don't eat breakfast, but I never get hungry if I skip. I told myself I have to " follow the rules " and not eat until I was hungry, which didn't happen until 12:30. Later on I realized that I was turning this into another diet by trying to follow the " rule " of not eating until I was hungry. My body needs food first thing whether I am hungry or not. I get tired, I get spacey, I get headaches, I get irritable. But i don't get hungry. So now i will listen to my body instead of trying to follow a rule. Wow, that is really freeing, I am in charge! Sorry my post is so long! I look forward to getting to know all of you.
