Guest guest
Hi, ...welcome to the list. I'm so sorry that happened to your father. Really, the doc was incompetent...there is no such thing as " mild diabetes " and if your father had been given appropriate education he probably wouldn't have had a toe amputation (which is caused by uncontrolled BGs). A lot of people on this list eat a lowcarb or moderate carb diet so appropriate snacks would be foods that were low in carbs. (Carbs will raise your BG). Stay away from typical snack foods...crackers, pretzels, even fruits or carrots. Nuts are one thing he can eat, cheese is another. However, uncontrolled snacking is going to cause weight gain so he should be very careful. The USDA website has excellent information about carb counts. I believe there's a link to it at the bottom of this page. If not, just ask and we'll post it. Good luck, Vicki In a message dated 03/15/2002 7:12:15 AM US Mountain Standard Time, ballykuk@... writes: > Hi, I'm new to this list and wondered if anyone could help. Guest guest
too funny not very hahaha. I might give them another try, do you eat them >>>>>>>>>>>> What are " them " ? I've read a bunch of posts that refer to " them " , but I must have missed the post that said what " them " are:-). Since the posts refer to EATING " them " , I am curious. I am curious about ANYTHING that is eaten:-) Today was my grand daughter's third BD party. . .I'm nuts about her and had to be there. .. . food up the nose. . .I ate a LOT of sliced cucumbers, a LOT of sliced turkey, two spoonsful of my wife's wonderful potato salad (in the past I would have eaten two platesful), 1/2 of a roll, and when the heavily decorated cake came around, I asked my DIL for one BITE. . .she said " take one bite of this and gave me a very small 2 " x 2 " piece. I took my one bite, set the balance down on the table, stared at it for 3-4 minutes and ate the rest:-(. First " sweet " I've eaten in two months. I did not even check my sugars when I got home, but just finished my snack of a nice slice of rare roast beef, water, and a slice of Swiss cheese. I still did not dare take a reading, but I will be awfully curious to see what it is in the morning when I get up. Going to bed now at one a.m. ashamed of myself for eating the GD cake and 1/2 roll.
