Guest guest
Hi, Shane. Drinking plenty of water certainly won't hurt as most of us don't drink enough water. Short of vigorous physical exercise,, however, there isn't a simple way to " flush the sugar " out of your system. The reality is that if you stop drinking the soda, its effects will be gone after a day or two in any case. So since you caught the mistake, know the problem and its solution, I wouldn't fret overly-much about it. Just stop drinking the regular soda. Moreover, unless you use a reader to assist you in reading your blood glucose till your talking meter comes, it won't be easy to maintain tight control over your blood glucose. Until that talking meter comes, just watch your diet, take your medications and exercise as your diabetes team has prescribed. Don't make any drastic changes without consulting them. And things will get a lot easier for both them and you once your meter comes and you get the hang of using it. LIfe-style modification and knowledge are the watchwords here. Mike Freeman > hi all, > I have a situation going here, that I am hoping someone can give advice to. I have a situation where I am totally blind, and do my grocery shopping on line, usually I buy diet soda, usually diet right, this month they were out of that, so I found a store brand soda, and ordered the diet version of it, they, brought me the brand I ordered but instead of diet, they brought me the regular version. They however didn't tell me that, they said there were no substitutions, and that I receive the correct brand of everything I ordered. The problem, is I usually drink soda each day, when its diet with no carbs, or whatever, its not a problem, however, i have ingested this soda on and off for about a week and a half now, and need to know if there is a way to flush the sugar out of my system. I had someone sighted come over today, which is how I found out about the soda mistake. any help would be appreciated, I have started drinking a bunch of water today in hopes that it will do something, I am currently waiting for my talking meter, so admittedly i haven't been testing as often as i will when I have it. i am a type two diabetic > thanks > shane > ---------- > > No virus found in this outgoing message. > Checked by AVG Anti-Virus. > Version: 7.0.323 / Virus Database: 267.6.6 - Release Date: 6/8/2005 > > >

Guest guest
Shane, don't worry about what has happened as you had no control ovr it. I would certainly call the grocery store and tell what happened and demand restitution on the soda. Emphasize how bad their error was and they could have caused hospitalization! (You can exaggerate a bit to emphasize you point.). Extra water will n ot do anyting and as Mike says ina day or so things should straighten out. Do you take insulin or medication for your diabetes? It wil help a lot when you get your talking machine, but if you are not feeling really terrible because of high blood sugars, your body is probably handling the situation. But, I would really call and complain to the store. I'm sure they have a customer service number. question, bad situation hi all, I have a situation going here, that I am hoping someone can give advice to. Guest guest
Hi Shane, Adding to what said, when they deliver your groceries from now on, have them look at the soda and see whether it is diet or not. I always do that because I have had some similar things like this happen in the past. I always have them look at expiration dates on milk, eggs and the like too. Keep your chin up and things will be fine. sharon question, bad situation > > hi all, > I have a situation going here, that I am hoping someone can give advice > to. > I have a situation where I am totally blind, and do my grocery shopping > on > line, usually I buy diet soda, usually diet right, this month they were > out > of that, so I found a store brand soda, and ordered the diet version of > it, > they, brought me the brand I ordered but instead of diet, they brought me > the regular version. Guest guest
One thing about sugar, or products like soda that are largely sugar based, they are in and out pretty fast. It's the fats that linger, and some very complex carbs like pasta that can hang on for a day or so. I would say more likely, the soda and the affects from the sugar were out of your system within hours, not even as long as a day, much less 2 days.
Guest guest
You did not blow it Shane, they did! Re: question, bad situation ah good idea thanks for that. I never thought of the store being something to watch over, but now i realize that when they bring my stuff i need to be asking is this diet, so its my fault as well. I can't help but feel a bit disappointed as i have not had regular soda for over two years now, and drinking it, well, i feel like my fight was all blown in two weeks. its a rough day smiles shane question, bad situation > > hi all, > I have a situation going here, that I am hoping someone can give advice to. > I have a situation where I am totally blind, and do my grocery shopping on > line, usually I buy diet soda, usually diet right, this month they were out > of that, so I found a store brand soda, and ordered the diet version of it, > they, brought me the brand I ordered but instead of diet, they brought me > the regular version. Guest guest
Dear Shane and Everyone, I no doubt missed something in trying to catch up with this list, but it seems you said that you drank pop after not having any for 2 years and that meant you had blown it. I'm concerned for you, but I only lasted for 2 months before drinking a regular cola. Were you saying that the one soda did harm? I ask because I love regular pop and hate the diet kind, even the diet with splenda. I have given in and drank some cans of pop, even substituting it for a meal because I missed it so terribly. I'm a type 2 diabetic. Am I doing serious harm giving in to my longing for the pop I miss so much? Always With Love, Lissi question, bad situation > > hi all, > I have a situation going here, that I am hoping someone can give advice to. Guest guest
Lissi, The proof is in the pudding my friend. What is your blood sugar level? What kind of soda do you like? If I am not mistaken mose 12 oz cans of soda have about 41 or so grams of those little carberators. Now, how does this fit into your carb consumption? Consider this, a sandwich made with regular bread will have 40 or so carbs (sorry, no tomatoes folks) and, much to Crystal's dismay, 12 Doreto Salsa chips have 17 wee tiny weeny little carbs. So, if you have a sandwich, pop and some Doritos you probably have shot your wad. Now, how can we help this situation? Hmm, we could just have pop and chips and trade the sandwich for 2 chocolate chip cookies? Have you tried Diet Right pop? Crystal claims it is actually good. The Wal-Mart diet Dr. Thunder is also a favorite of her and another Diabetic friend of ours. They both like the Dr. Thunder better than the real Dr. Pepper diet. Hang in there Lissi. Just remember that there is a light at the end of the tunnel.. Oops, it is an oncoming train....Cy, the Ancient Okie... Guest guest
Lissi: It depends upon how much the regular stuff drives up your bG readings. For my part, I can't get very excited about *either* diet *or* regular pop!
