Keep in mind that I did end up going back to my old habits after my

first 6 months of IE and therefore I am now back to starting from

square-one with my weight, and with trying to get back into

following my hunger cues. I gave up for a while, and just let myself

go. :-? (I started with IE in July 2005, reading WD).

I feel like a hypocrite when I rave about IE and about how I lost 25

lbs in 6 months, because of where I stand NOW. BUT, it honestly

worked for me like nothing else, and it just makes so much sense...

I mean, if you look at little kids, THIS IS HOW THEY DO IT! So, it's

obviously the way God designed our bodies to work! Why on earth

would I turn back to man-made rules then, right?

If I may, I have to reference a Bible verse (for those opposed, just

scroll down, and don't bother reading it....):

" It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then,

and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery. " -

Galatians 5:1

I really hold to that, because it's like I said above... why would I

go back to the " slavery " of man-made rules / dieting, when I've

been " freed " by God in finding IE? I have to STAND FIRM in what I

know to be the " right thing " ... and just keep " persevering " in my

efforts, knowing that I'll get there eventually ( " there " being where

I'm an intuitive eater, and it's no longer an effort to follow my

hunger cues). ;o)

" One step forward, two steps back -- but moving in the right

direction! " (a TW saying)

Emma,

I did lose weight -- 25 lbs in the first 6 months, to be exact! :-D

As I said, though, the KEY was to only eat that stuff between the

hunger-satisfied boundaries... and sometimes that meant that I'd have

ice cream and raspberries for lunch... and ONLY that! :-? Hubby

really scorned me for that - said I was setting a terrible example for

our kids, and all that. But, I knew that I was craving the ice cream

and raspberries, and if I waited to eat them AFTER a " proper " meal,

I'd overdo it! ;o)

My eating wasn't the most " beneficial " , but it was how I learned how

to eat intuitively... I let myself have " forbidden " foods, and I let

go of all the " rules " (like I " SHOULD eat a proper meal FIRST, and

THEN have dessert " , or that I " SHOULD eat more healthfully " ). It was

really freeing!

And, also, I could eat a very small portion of chocolate, and then

just walk away. Never before had I been able to do that! I would eat 2

chocolate bars if given the chance... until I learned to eat

intuitively... then ONE chocolate bar could last for over a week! It

was awesome! (and it saved us on groceries! LOL)

I can still *kinda* do the thing with the chocolates... I try to see

how long I can make them last. And, it's nice to know it'll always be

there, if I don't eat it all at once. ;o)

My only REAL problem right now is dinner. I always tend to overeat

then, and I think it's because that's the only meal where family is

home, and I'm " distracted " . At lunch I'm alone, so I tend to eat

slowly, and I don't normally eat more than is " satisfying " .

HA HA I was thinking reading the posts that its like a final

chocolate OD...the next time you eat it you can really taste all of

the fat and sugar in it. Funny!

I think this is what OA sets out to do but Im not sure it was getting

the message across for me? Well....still undecided on that one.

For me a deeper spiritual relationship definitely helps my IE but I

dont think it has anything to do with HOW you decide to achieve that

deeper relationship of the spirit. Many people use religion, some

use OA, some use Deepak, some worship a doorknob?
