Guest guest
Hey , Make an appointment with your doctor, discuss your symptoms and he or she will arrange to check your sugar levels. Ask specifically for a reactive hypoglycemia test. With my doctor (I have yet take the test in 2 weeks), she told me it's a 3-hour test and I have to come there without having eaten anything. Then, I have to drink something and they will test my blood every hour. If the reading is abnormal (in my case I am testing for BOTH hypoglycemia and diabetes, since my mom was diagnosed 3 weeks ago. So if the reading is abnormal: below 80 is low and above 100 and something is high), then they will know what I truly have. Good luck. I am22 years old and since I fainted for the first time when I was 12.From then until the time I was about 20, I fainted several times peryear. Usually the fainting occurred when I hadn't had anything to eat.I never saw a doc about this problem, but I have learned that I havethis tendency to black out and faint when I miss a meal or don't eatadequately. I haven't fainted for almost two years, and I believe this is becauseof dietary changes I've made: eating on a regular shedule, and eatingmostly whole grains rather than refined carbs. I usually have a cookieor scoop of ice cream after I have had dinner. I've found that if Ihave these things instead of whole grains, I feel light headed and dizzy. Is there a test for hypoglycemia? How did you find out you have it?I'm pretty sure I have it, but I'd be interested to know for certain. Also, do you know its cause? Thanks so much for taking the time to read this.->> Hey Corinna,> > You know, as I posted earlier to Michele, you have to do what'sbest for YOU. Not everyone else. And I also believe there is not ONEway of following IE. If you have a medical condition (I also havehypoglycemia), then you have to eat what's right for your body. > I know I have to eat every 3 hours, whether I feel hungry or not.As a matter of fact, I have a hard time reading my body (one of thethings IE is teaching me to do), and have ended up blacked out inchurch or in school somewhere because I only felt slightly dizzy andshrugged it off as fatigue - when in fact it was my sugar levels thathad dropped significantly. Well, after going through this for 10years, my doctor advised me to eat when those symptoms come on and shesuggested a high protein/high fiber diet (with every meal).> > I wish you all the best, but my advice would be to speak with yourdoctor - get a medical opinion of what you're going through (perhapsmore than one), and then figure out what's best for you.> > Emma> Ahhh...imagining that irresistible "new car" smell?
