Guest guest
Good for you! I went shopping the other night and got some new clothes too after realizing that most of my summer clothes were too tight to wear comfortably. Now I have lots of nice clothes that fit me and look good on me. It's taken me a long time to realize that I deserve that!! And like you the clothes fit me but looked bad in the dressing rooms. But once I got home and looked in my mirror they looked wonderful! RTraci Vujicich wrote: I did get some nice things. It's the first time in about a hundred years that I enjoyed shopping. I didn't enjoy the mirrors in the dressing rooms, but I kept reminding myself that I don't really look like that. I got all the clothes home and looked at them in my normal mirror (not two inches away or in bright lighting) and they all looked cute. I bought a whole new wardrobe in size appropriate clothes, and feel fantastic. I realized that in order for my size to change I have to love myself first, and running around in my old AC/DC t-shirt and sweat shorts just wasn't doing it for me anymore. > I KNOW! Guest guest
Oh, believe me, I've been there! Here's the secret. You won't get "unbroke" until you start treating yourself. Now, I don't mean spending the rent money on clothes and CDs. But there are tons of free things you can do to indulge yourself. Take a bubble bath. Do your nails. Take a nap. Lie outside and count the stars. Get a good book or movie from the library. Make one night a week "date night" with yourself, and make your favorite dinner, do some nice things for yourself. It's crazy but once you start treating yourself as well as you would a friend, the money starts to flow. I'm not wealthy yet, but doing that really was the first step...Wonder why no one ever calls me at home? Check out my latest video. http://www.youtube.com/applepiemommy TV dinner still cooling?Check out "Tonight's Picks" on Yahoo! TV.
Guest guest
The way we dealt with having less money was to find ways to make it so we didn't need as much money, or to spend the LEAST we needed to for obtaining what we wanted. I sew my own clothes, I cook from scratch, I buy books used online or at bookstores if I can find them there (saves shipping). We don't run to the store at the drop of a hat or for just one thing. Not only do you spend more when you get there, gas is a real factor. What would be the cost difference of buying a expresso set up vs. how many Starbucks bought? Then you could have it any size any time! Yes, its great to 'treat' one's self to eating out, but if you are really interested in having the money for things you desire, finding ways to NOT spend on things you can easily do for yourself is a solution. (As much as I adore that my hubby likes to 'treat' me to a ice cream cone out now and then, its maddening that A cone costs as much as buying a 1/2 gallon of ice cream in the store!) Money is very short here at the moment. I have to pay the tuitions for next semester and more and that really is a fortune. :-( .... having to think twice if I can have that grande latte at Starbucks or if I can afford that nice tofu instead of beans in a can again? How do you treat yourself if you're broke? Books, CDs, wellness days, > new haircuts... all that costs money. And alas, definitely more money > than food. :-/ > > Regards > s. >
Guest guest
First of all: thanks for all your posts and suggestions! Unfortunately I'm not in the US, so I have to find different solutions. Buying used clothes in my size is really a problem. I know two stores that sell really cheap clothes, like 7,99 Euro for a jeans or something but in the end it all sums up. julieca84 wrote: > Also, if you " treat " yourself to Starbucks every day, it's not really > a treat, is it? Interesting, that you (and one other reader) interpreted what I wrote as " going there everyday " . Who said, that it's everyday? I re-read my post and couldn't find the line where I wrote that I go there regularly. It's maybe once or twice a month, if that much. No way I could afford Starbucks everyday! Regards s. Guest guest
I use Half.com for many purchases - mainly books and cds. The prices are good, but you must be careful to add in the shipping costs which have crept up too.

Guest guest
Sorry, I should not have said " every day " ; should have said often. I guess 1-2 times a month is often for me, since I go about 2-3 times a year. > > > Also, if you " treat " yourself to Starbucks every day, it's not really > > a treat, is it? > > Interesting, that you (and one other reader) interpreted what I wrote as > " going there everyday " . I'm not in the US, but in Europe. :-) Regards s.

Though it got better since I purchased syrups and got one of those little thingies to froth milk. Tastes almost the same. Now I can have my little treat more often at a much cheaper price. :-) Regards s.
