Guest guest
I have been told that RA affects vision. I had lasik surgery 9 years ago and loved it. It gradually returned to pre surgical status. When I returned they refused to assist me because of the RA. I have been on both for about 18 months and my vision, lately, is deteriorating quickly. It could be because I am getting older at 53; however, I thought I would ask if anyone else is experiencing any problems. Thank you, Joanne Raniolo
Guest guest
I thought I read an article, on this group or another about Remicaide and possible eye problems. Maybe knows.. Good luck. Did you ask your doc? Joy Joanne Dubnicka <windey99@...> wrote: Has anyone, on Remicade and Methotrexate, experienced problems with their vision? Guest guest
What sort of vision problems are you having, Joanne? Guest guest
My vision is just getting worse to where I am not able to see as well as I once did. I had gotten new glasses at the beginning of this year (bifocals) but since then, I cannnot see as far or as clear as I had when I first got them. Usually, it would take a couple of years before I had to go back to the optometrist; however, it has only been about 6 months this time and I am probably going to have to go see an optometrist again. I was just curious if anyone else had a problem with their vision while on these medications or if my deteriorating sight was from getting older. Thanks, Joanne --- <Matsumura_Clan@...> wrote: > What sort of vision problems are you having, Joanne? > > > > Not an MD > > > [ ] Remicade, methx, & vision > > > > Has anyone, on Remicade and Methotrexate, > experienced > > problems with their vision? Guest guest
I would see a Ophthalmologist at this point. Just my opinion, but I don't trust my eyes to anyone else. Guest guest
Joanne, I would suggest that you go to an ophthalmologist. They are usually better equipped to handle problems like this. There are some eye diseases that can cause deteriorating vision. And of course you should tell your rheumy. Guest guest
It might be a good idea to see an ophthalmologists (rather than an optometrist) who can check our your eyes medically. Guest guest
I second Sue's advice, Joanne. Please contact your rheumatologist and see an ophthalmologist as soon as possible. There have been sporadic reports both here and in the literature of side effects relating to vision with the TNF blockers. Guest guest
Thanks for all the help. I see my Rheumy on Wednesday and will ask him. Then a trip to the optomologist.
