AIDS Prevention and Control (APAC) Project, The Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Chennai is currently seeking to recruit Programme Manager - MIS & Documentation and Technical Expert - Research. Brief Profile about AIDS Prevention and Control (APAC) Project, VHS The Voluntary Health Services (VHS), Chennai, a large Community Health NGO founded in 1958, is implementing the AIDS Prevention and Control Project (APAC) in Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry. This project is funded by United States Agency for International Development (USAID) and implemented in close collaboration with National AIDS Control Organisation (NACO). The project supports a large number of NGOs and Corporate in the State to implement AIDS prevention, Care & Support activities among different target groups. This project with an initial outlay of US $10 million has successfully completed seven years and has been extended further till March 2007 with an additional outlay of US $18 Million. Based on the successful implementation of APAC project, USAID has also provided another US $5 million as a direct assistance under “Technical Assistance Component” to support the existing activities of APAC project. Proposal to USAID for extending the project from April 2007 to 2012 is under process. During the extended phase, APAC will concentrate to provide comprehensive STI/HIV/AIDS prevention and Care & Support for people living with HIV/AIDS (PLHA) in selected districts of Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry. Opportunities for USAID supported AIDS Prevention And Control Project (APAC), Tamil Nadu & Pondicherry PROGRAM MANAGER – MIS & DOCUMENTATION The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining MIS related to project activities. S/he will collate and analyse activity reports submitted by NGOs and other project partners and make recommendations for dissemination and action. S/he will also coordinate activities related to documentation of the processes and outcomes of the project. Candidates should be a postgraduate degree in Mass Communication/Social Sciences/ Journalism/Management with 3-5 years relevant experience. Good analytical skills, writing and interpersonal skills and experience in data management are very essential. TECHNICAL EXPERT – RESEARCH The incumbent will coordinate in developing a strategic research agenda for the APAC project and be responsible for planning, commissioning and managing different types of research activities related to project objectives. The incumbent will take the lead in coordinating the process of research activities undertaken by various research agencies contracted by the project. Candidates should be a post-graduate in Bio-Statistics / Social Sciences / Public Health with strong research background with sound working experience in statistical packages like SPSS tools, EPI info, etc., with 3-5 years relevant experience. Working experience in GIS will be an added asset. It is expected for the above positions the candidate must be proficient in computers, knowledge of Tamil and excellent communication skills and ability to work in a team. The above positions involve extensive travel. The appointments are on contractual basis initially for two years with a probation period of six months from the date of joining and further extension of service is based on satisfactory performance.
