Hi Barbara, I just wanted you to know that I saw Dr. Ziem yesterday. It was

so nice to meet someone who understand what we are going through. Thank you

so much for sending her name to me. Carol

in San Diego:

What bedtime tape do you use for your daughter?

(my 8 year old) also has her worst worries at night, when she's

absolutely SURE she's going to throw up. I've been staying with her until

she falls asleep, at the CBT's suggestion, since none of us were getting any

sleep. Tried a classical child's tape, and that relaxed her, but it also

kept her awake, since she loves music. Just curious about what you're

using...

Can anyone tell me if Kombucha is acceptable for a type-O diet? Kombucha is

a fermented tea which utilizes a fungus culture to convert sugar into acetic

acid, fructose, succinic acid, gluconic acid and keto-gluconic acids. It

has many reported health benefits including digestive wellness since it has

some healthful bacteria as well. I have a feeling it is a lot like apple

cider which is on the avoid list.

I do not think I have ever met any patient that is able to go through

the therapy past several months that do not have some degree of

depression. Between the virus, how you feel, the uncertainty, poor

nutrition, fatigue, and the medications themselves, can cause depression

in the best of situations. I never prescribe the therapy without

strongly encouraging someone to try an antidepressant as well.

Depression is too common and some have even gone to try, or have

committed suicide. Its not worth it. Marty

Hi alley/,

I know exactly how you feel. If you need some help talking to your

girlfriend you might show her the " letter to people without Hepatitis " that I

included with one of my emails just a few weeks ago, or take some of it's

ideas for some of what you say if you talk to her in person. I used a lot

of it in a letter to two of my brothers that have not reached out to me

hardly at all before, during, or after treatment. They still didn't quite

get it, but now I can say I've done what I can to meet my needs by informing

them of what's going on for me, and realize and accept that I can't change

them, even though I'd like to. Hopefully your friend will come around...my

best friend did to a great extent, even though not quite as much as I'd

hoped, but about as much as I'd expect.

Take care,

Sara

in the day when I feel better. I just wanted to cry. Or slap her. But I

cried instead. Then my girlfriend bubbles into my cubicle wanting me to walk

with her down the hall while she gets a coke. I haven't even sat in my chair

she called me a grump. More silent tears. My girlfriend I'll have a talk

bad or putting her down ya know? " ...

Oooh--wish I hadn't erased the last 3 months of UNREAD digests--sounds like

lots of good sensory info has been flying.

Tried shaving cream in the bathtub to finger paint with? I used to use it

to help mask the smell of post poopy diaper, but thought that might be

reinforcing to him since he loves the shaving cream. (Would he really be

smart enough to make himself poop so he could get a shaving cream bath?

Hmmmm). Found some wonderful foam soap that comes in a container like

shaving cream. Easter Bunny brought that for him and he loves it.

Joan, I met a new person (cousin of my only-once-a-year-hairdresser) who

has a son with this diagnosis who actually lives in my city! Her

son is 14, and she would like to get on the list. How do I get her to sign

up? Thanks. in Little Rock, mom to , almost 6.

Hi everyone -

I'm wondering if anyone knows of any literature or websites that may be

available regarding the benefits of sending a child with Apraxia to a

school for the hearing impaired. I am interested in having my Apraxic

son placed in a hearing impaired school and would like to be prepared

with something in writing during my IEP if they don't understand why. I

can explain the reasons verbally, but would like to have something in

writing if it exists.

Thanks,

Isreal,

I was petrified to see my results. The way the doctor explained them.....I

THOUGHT I was near the transplant list! NOT SO! I asked for a copy of my

records to hand carry to a second opinion appointment. Even when I read the

results.....I didnt fully understand what it meant. I bought several books on

the liver and Hepatitis c.

Like Dolans' Hepatitis C Handbook, and Dr. Cabot's The Healthy

Liver and Bowel Book.

Once I resigned myself that death wasn't imminent, I studied what I should

and shouldn't eat. What helps the liver regenerate and what is hard work for

the liver to process. Selenium is a good vitiamin and Milkthistle a good

herb.....there are many more, but I'm giving you a brief good/bad so you know

what you eat makes a difference. Animal fats are hard, but fats from nuts and

avacados are easier on the liver. Peanuts can carry an organisim from the

ground that can kill us, and potatoe skins can have concentrated pesticides

from farming as can fruit from trees.....so peel them!!!! unless you grow

them! Beets are really good for the liver......and juicing fruits and veggies

take the processing job away from the liver so it gets a good healthy dose of

nutritition......if you are concerned about waste.....use the veggie left

overs in soup. A good potent anti oxident is good too.

It's become a matter of feeding my liver now, rather that eating for the joy

of something delicious to you. Think health food. raw fruits and veggies and

whole grain everything. Quit 90% of sugar, salt and caffine......and the 10%

will be enough to be a treat, and keep you from feeling too deprived. MOST OF

ALL Drink as much DISTILLED water as you can, when you can. If it has

preservatives or additives that aren't 100% mother nature....pass. Keep the

eggs down to 4 a week and if you HAVE to fry it.....blot as much grease off

as possible. I allow myself bacon once every 2 weeks.....or I'd be

desperate!.....

All this is your decision, and I'd rather you research the info than take my

word for it.

I do know my liver was swollen when I had the biopsy, and 2 months later

after doing everything in this letter.......and a whole lot more......the

swelling was down so much that the doc asked if my liver wasn't swollen last

time I was in. I didn't explain to him my diet change because when I asked

him previously....he said my diet was not a concern........which is why I'm

switching Dr.s.......EVERYTHING you comsume will affect your liver for the

good, or the bad.......and that includes breathing fumes, smoking, paint and

chemicals......yard pesticides and herbacides......the dog or cats flea

shampoo....your skin asorbs it and your liver gets it out. It is your filter.

Without adequate amounts of WATER, you liver must clean out what your kidneys

dont.....

Oh yeah, after reading everything I could on the liver and what it does and

how it does it, and hep-c....I found out I have almost no damage......I know

alot of poeple who have cirrhoisi though....and they're doing great, now they

know what to avoid, and what is good....and treatment.

I'll keep you in my prayers

thanks for replys to my last post concerning the liver biopsy. i haven't gotten

back the results back yet. in answer to your question marylin i wasn't put out

during my procedure they just numbed my side. i am seeing a hepatologist i'm due

to find out my results on friday. i'm very anxious and scared about all the

possibilities that may come my way.

let's just say that the results r against me. in my state of mind i am expecting

the worst because of my past behaviors. when it came to abusing my body i didn't

care what i did now i'm paying the consequenses. i " m working very hard at

staying clean but now i feel that i am taking a step backwards and it sucks. the

last thing that i want to do is to drink and drug again. the way i feel right

now it doesn't sound like a bad idea. this is just a feeling. i have to much

live for now. i have a son and a wife that r very dear to me and that i love

very much. it would be very selfish of me to kill my pain and give them pain.

i need all the support i can get so i hope that u and other members will keep

Israel,

Keep thinking positive. I had not done drugs since the early 80's and went to

being an occasional drinker in the early 90's and was not diagnosed with HepC

till 1997. What a shock. The years do catch up to you and treatment is hell.

But hopefully you will be one of the lucky stitistics that frees yourself from

it. And keep remembering all you have to live for. God has already forgiven

you for your past.

best steak I've ever had. That was last August.lo-fat milk and cut back on

fresh veggies and EAT them....you'll not feel like it's so awful.

Fish is supose to be the leanest meat.

Re: Digest Number 126

Israel,

You are a really neat person, and I'm glad to meet you through this list. I'm

sorry they didn't do a better job of keeping you out of pain with your biopsy.

Now that you are on the list and can share experiences with us and we can with

you, you can hold the doctor's feet to the fire the next time you need a

procedure done.

The doctors had me so scared that I was willing to do anything they said. I was

so horrified that I had this disease, and they told me that I needed all this

testing done ASAP. I expected the worst when I got my results, because they told

me they believed I contracted this disease 40 years ago. And I am the type of

person who expects the worst and is pleasantly surprised when the news isn't

that bad. I cried like a baby when I got my results - the doctors said no

cirrhosis, no fibrosis, no inflammation, and only a little bit of fat on my

liver. My viral load was only 401,000. I have heard of levels up to 25

million. I was very lucky, but it doesn't mean I have to worry any less than

anyone else.

But it means absolutely nothing in the scheme of things, everyone responds

differently to the treatment. It is just the luck of the draw.

I have to tell you something. I loved what you said about your wife and your

son, that to kill your pain would be to give them pain. It tells me a lot about

your character. I am a lot older than you, and I have grown children. I cannot

tell you the joy of going to my son's track meets in high school, seeing him

enroll in college, the first one in my family, seeing him get his own apartment

and live on his own as an adult. The best was last year, seeing him marry a

girl who loves him as much as he loves her. I could have missed those things -

my life was rotten, but I loved my children more than my own life, and they kept

me going. My daughter didn't make such good choices, but she will be ok. She

gave me 4 wonderful grandchildren, even if I wasn't ready to be a grandma at 40.

Every day when I woke up, I made the first choice of the day to live for my

children. When I took the focus off of myself, it wasn't so hard to do and it

became easier every day.

You are right, it is madness, and it is scary. That's what these lists and

groups are for. We can help each other along the way.

Love and prayers for you tonight,

Marilyn

To & -

- love your fund raising idea. Are you Brit?

Tapioca wouldn't be my first choice as an american

boy-- perhaps jello or choc pudding or something. May

be just personal taste. Welcome back.

- I agree with others that I wouldn't take this

as after-effects so much as continued working through

of tissue levels. I recall Wheldon noting that after

immune cells get cleared (he was referring to clearing

by flagyl of immune cells infected with Chlamydia

pneumonia) they start functioning again, and people

have herx and immune reactions long after the flagyl

pulse is stopped. Also, he mentions the cycling of

each organism through it's phases (where it then gets

killed by different agents you are taking) has it's

own cycling and periodicity. So I'd be inclined to

stay with it until you dont have reactions. The goal

in most treatments is to work until you aren't getting

reactions, then gradually use pulsed treatments,

extending the time between them until you are sure you

have gotten any residual reservoirs of organisms. My

reference point on this is the Cpn protocal by

Wheldon.
