Our lives have been turned upside-down with the prostate cancer diagnosis. We have two sons in their 30s who are both upset not only for their father but their long term chances. Don had a total prostate removal by the da vinci method. When he went in two weeks later to get his catheter out the doctor told him that cancer had also been found in two places against the wall of the prostate. We were so upset we didn't ask any questions. He said he needs another PSA in a month and then if it does show cancer has spread Don will start radiation. I am confused because we were originally told it was all confined to one lobe of the prostate and only one out of 11 needle biopsies showed cancer. Since this is such slow growing cancer why has it spread this quickly? His Gleason is six and his PSA was 6.5. Any comments would be appreciated.
