Guest guest
Thanks Kate That's one of the things they checked in the er last night - thyroid is perfect. Guest guest
I hope you can get what you need somewhere! I pushed the issue with my drs office and they are letting me see a nurse practitioner today. If she can't be the one to get me hooked up with a halter, I'll be a little miffed. Guest guest
Sorry to hear about all you are going through. Don't you just love the " see your family doctor " answer? I have been in pain management for over a month and I just got back from an appointment. I got tired of the same song and dance about seeing my family doctor. I get tired of dr.s telling me they will help and then they refer everything to the family doctor. Soooo, I fired my pain management doctor today! I've NEVER done this before and I was so mad I was crying but I did it! There were other issues as well with this pain clinic but I must say I feel so much better after firing them. I'm to the point that I cannot tolerate being passive in my treatments, and honestly treating patients is just a " job " for these doctors, and in my case a job not well done. So you do not have to settle for the lack of care or treatments! What a rant I've just done, but boy do I feel better. This afternoon I see my family doctor and if I get the same treatment from him, I will fire him too!!!!! [ ] Heart palpatations Has anyone had heart palpatations related to RA or mtx or prednisone? I had these mildly before going on medication, but yesterday they were at me with a vengence. I couldn't catch my breath quite a bit, could feel the flutter in my chest, and responded with coughing often. My aunt is a nurse and recommended a visit to the er last night. The nurses and drs all heard my heart palpatating, but they didn't find anything on the ekg, We saw some inverted t waves on the monitor after that. All my blood tests were clear. They wanted me to see my family dr today to get set up with a halter monitor, but his office is telling me that he can't see me " this month " and that he would have to see me and then send me to a specialist. I'm not sure what to do now. Waiting that long doesn't seem like the thing to do. I'm not in a part of the country where Lyme disease is taken too seriously. I'm seronegative for RA at this point, and now with heart palpatations - am I deluding myself to think it could be Lyme disease and not RA? The er wouldn't test for it, they told me to talk to my family doc. Oh and btw, I saw my rheumatologist yesterday and mentioned the heart problem. It wasn't affecting me too much at that point, but I asked if he thought it meant anything. He listened to my heart and didn't hear anything, siad he didn't think it was related to the meds or RA and told me to see my family doctor about it. Guest guest
Hello Mara I am having autoimmune disorder for nearly 3 years, more or less mild but from day one I had the most horrible palpitations, before taking any meds! They were sometimes really very bad, scary! I did all the routine checkups for heart problems, but nothing was wrong. My rheumy was never convinced that there was a connection between my disease and the palpitations but I am sure they started with the autoimmune problems. It took years to get rid of them, first I took Ternomin, with little success then I switched to cordarone, which finally brought relief. Now I have even stopped taking it since last Jan and they did not come back but for really minor ones. But if I drink any coffee, they come back very aggressively and I have to suffer for days from the attacks! I hope I was able to help and wish you all the best. amira Mara <mara@...> wrote: Has anyone had heart palpatations related to RA or mtx or prednisone? Guest guest
Hi, I noticed them last year, before I knew what was going on with my muscles and joints, but they were always mild and not a bother. It's interesting, I don't drink caffeinated beverages often because I don't like the way they make me feel, and when I do it's something like green tea - not regular coffee. My mother has been visiting this week, and she bought the most wonderful dark chocolate with espresso infusion. I had a few squares of it two days in a row, and the heart palpitations got much worse the second day. Who knows! I've been resting the past couple of days and they are much calmer (and the espresso chocolate is all gone ;-) ). When I'm on the Holter monitor next week I'll have to get some more and see if that kicks them into action. Thanks for sharing your experiences with me. Guest guest
Thanks! I think he said it ws 2.2...I'm going to get copies of all the tests I've had and check it all out. It's also been brought to my attention that vitiligo is often associated with pernicious aneamia which can lead to thyroid and heart issues. Hoping I'm on the right track!
