Ref Dr. Bobby's posting on Tb and HIV

I appreciate your thought on strengthening linkages between existing T.B.

control program of GoI with care & support program for PLWHA.

T.B. has been the most prevailing OI with PLWHAs in India. A large no. (80%)of

newly identified PLWHAs in low prevalent state like Bihar and Jharkhand are

suffering from T.B.. Diagnosis and treatment services provided under RNTCP &

DOTS are still not reaching to

the PLWHAs staying in remote villages.

There is great need to strengthen linkages between the DOTS center and VCCTC

,CCC & Drop - in centers.SACS should priorities the improved linkages with DOTS

and Care & Support program for PLWHAs. It can be done with sensitization of

State and District T.B. officers and staff on the increasing number of PLWHAs

and T.B. as

highest prevailing OIs and to promote convergence between DOTS and

VCCTC/CCC/DCs.
