Guest guest
Tonight I felt compelled to have a huge dinner and eat without respect to subtle hunger signals. I have been doing just great up to then with eating. Could tonight's big dinner been what my body really wanted? I think it could be because I am still fighting with the food police and the diet mentality is still somewhat present. I can't seem to completely accept food freedom because at the same time I want to desperately lose some weight before my vacation in July. Little thoughts of deprivation are sneaking in. The IE approach are helped me immensely so far. I am a little surprised at how voraciously and how much I ate tonight. I am wondering if it is common to have a surprise binge when IE had been working so well? Thanks, Pen
Guest guest
Yes, it is very common to have fluctuations in your eating habits. It sounds to me like you either allowed yourself to get too hungry, you were feeling emotional or maybe something hormonal was going on. Never put a lot of food on your plate even if you think you are very hungry (you can always take more) and EAT SLOWLY which gives you a chance to tune in to how your stomach feels. Also, I wait five minutes before deciding if I want to eat more. I would also like to comment that you are judging your eating as a binge. It sounds to me like you just ate more than felt comfortable, that's all. > > Tonight I felt compelled to have a huge dinner and eat without respect > to subtle hunger signals. > I am wondering if it is common to have a surprise binge when IE > had been working so well? >

Is it because you fear that IE will > fail you on vacation? That popped in my mind as to what I would be > afraid of for me. > Thank you for your great response. In relation to my July Vacation, I hope to stay IE. I have treated many past vacations as a pass to stuff myself and regretted it later. I think I may have had such a large dinner last night because it was at a restaurant where I get much larger portions than I get at home. Plus this was a " Last Supper " because I told myself that I am not going to eat out anymore due to the cost and the portion size. THoughts of deprivation overwhelmed my natural hunger signals. It's so hard to completely say you are free to eat anything when issues like cost and such enter into it. I really need to learn how to nurture myself at home. Thanks for listening.
