Guest guest Posted November 28, 2006 Report Share Posted November 28, 2006 Job Description - International Training and Education Center on HIV (I-TECH), India Title: Systems and Information Technology Specialist. Reports to: Country Director, India Office Location: Chennai at the Government Hospital of Thoracic Medicine, Tambaram. Essential Functions: Manage and ensure stable and streamlined operation of all aspects of in-house computer network, including servers, email, applications, database, network, peripherals, storage, security, etc. Develop and document IT procedures and best practices. Manage help-desk and resolve end-user hardware and software problems in timely fashion. Provide training and support for office software. Provide written documentation where required. Orientation and training for programme fellows and trainees in the use of computer applications. Document best practices to ensure continuity and uniformity. Make hardware and software buying recommendations, assessing needs and purchase justification. Communicate regularly with head office located in Seattle, Washington, USA. Maintain organization website, including look and feel, content updates, etc. Have working knowledge of web development and publishing tools. Maintain organization database. Document procedures and best practices. Initiate project to link 10 regional training centres via the web. Coordinate with external partners to ensure uniform messaging and feature rich content. Plan budgets and technology requirements. Assist Resource Coordinator in creating and publishing documents, brochures, posters, etc. Coordinate with outside graphic and print vendors to ensure timely delivery of projects. Preferred Functions: Develop intranet. Implement knowledge management and collaboration tools, audio/video conferencing, HR modules (timesheets, status reports, benefit administration, vacation and sick leave tool, employee review, etc). Keep abreast of new and emerging technologies and make recommendations for new systems. Design and develop multimedia content for projects, products, and applications, including implementing eLearning training modules, CD-ROMs, flash animation, and performing day-to-day administration of the organization¡¦s multimedia portfolio. Required Qualifications: Bachelor degree in computer science, information-technology, or a related field and three years of general computer installation, maintenance, and repair experience; or, an equivalent combination of education and five years experience. Must be able to speak, read, and write clearly and effectively in English and Tamil. Should be able to work independently and give close attention to detail. Must be able to work in fast paced office environment. Preferred Qualifications: Have strong willingness to learn new things and keep abreast of emerging technologies. Have knowledge or interest in HIV/AIDS, or willingness to learn. Have strong cross-cultural communication skills, and confidence to work with international partners. Be sensitive to the cultural and medical needs of patients. Have strong desire for personal growth and expansion of horizons. Hours and Location: Monday-Friday 9am-5p, (hours may be longer on days that trainings take place). Some Saturdays required with advance notice. Position will be housed at Tambaram. Salary: DOE; Good benefits including medical insurance, leave, and other allowances. About I-TECH: I-Tech was established in 2002 by the Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) in collaboration with the United States Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). In India, I-TECH supports human capacity development in HIV/AIDS clinical care through trainings for doctors and nurses, technical assistance, and resource materials development.
