I'm sorry to hear you're having such a hard time.

May I ask : Why are you not a candidate for surgery, especially with

bladder problems?

hi, you don't say your name, but i am wondering why you were told you are

not a candidate for surgery. it seems to me that if your back has been

deteriorating to the point where you can't walk too well and you are

incontinent,

then maybe it is time to see a really good spine specialist to look at all the

options. i wish you much good luck and healing. marsha

Hi This is Vanita,

I posted my story in the previous mail. I would just like to know

more about the problem you are discussing, I have a freind who has

suffered from Slipdisc level L1 L2 L3, (now I dont know what that

means and is it more severe or less severe, would really appricate if

you could explain to me how severe this disease is and what are the

chances of recovery. My freind has also been categorized as not

suitable for surgery due to age & possible complications. Have you

ever heard of anyone being permanently bedridden due to this disease?

Thanks & Regards,

Vanita.

Lynda,

I live in S. Florida. What were the names of your wonderful doctors you had

here(mainly your Rheumatologist and Dermatologist)? Furthermore, where in S.

Florida were they located? Did you take any DMARDS to help you go into

remission? Good luck in your search for some good new doctors and I hope you

continue your remission.

from FL.

Hi!

I haven't posted in a long time. I hope to be able to participate more now

that I am hopefully settled. I have had p since I was 18 and am now 37. I have

had pa for the last 8 years although it is considered to be in remission for

the last 6 (although I still get pain and symptoms). I started experiencing

fibro symptoms when we lived in Florida and our house was full of mold etc. I

was however told by my rheumy in Florida that it wasn't Fibro as I did not

have enough symptoms although I still have some muscular problems. We have

recently moved back to our home state of OK (NE) and I def. miss the Florida

warm weather. We had a snow storm not too long ago and the cold weather def.

hurt. Anyway, now I have to start over dr. wise. I am willing to go into Tulsa

for dr. visits and am open to suggestions. I did previously see a rheumy in

Tulsa and I'm sure he is probably still in practice but I am not positive that

I want to go back to him just yet. I need to find a dermy and a rheumy as

well as I'm trying to find a good chiro. locally and I would like to find an

acupuncturist but I am a a little picky about that. I was very lucky to have

located an acupuncturist that was a true MD (she just didn't do the medicine

thing) in S. Florida. And I absolutely loved the rheumy I had in S. Florida. He

was friends with my chiro. and I felt they both had my best interests at

heart. Now I have to try to find that mix again and I hope someone in OK on the

loop can give me some suggestions. Thanks in advance and I will try to be

more of a regular poster this year.

Hi Lynda,

It HAS been a long time but it is great to see you back posting again. I hope

someone was able to help with your request to be pointed in the direction of

a good Rheumy, etc

I was sorry to read about you having mould in your house and of being

displaced because of the hurricanes. I hope you can get your house sale out of

the

way so that you can relax.

Keeping my fingers crossed for you.

Take care,

Hi ,

I know you wont answer this for another couple of months but, your not

old then. Remember the old man scene in Monty Python and the Holy

Grail, Hello old man and he replies " I'm not old, I'm 37. Sadly in my

case I'm not old I'm 47.

Keep the light shining,

Ian.

Well put, Sherry,

I'm a bit older than both of you. In fact, I am now the Matriarch in our

family.

Oh God, Please don't let the rest of the family realize this yet! I'm not

ready.

,

I too , am in the same boat... i just decided why pay all this money and

take fifteen pills and still get worse. So i made a decision to change doctors

and find someone who will talk to me and listen. Im still lookin ,so in the

meantime ive done some research on vitamins, foods that may help and looked at

food allergies.. My daughter mentioned mangosteen, that shes had many people say

help ,she works in hospital and said the nurses say it work... so im searching

it out on computer.. The flax and fish oil do help so i keep taking it.......

maybe we draw at straws but its better then sitting idle.. if i do that i get

depressed and want to quit.. and let the pain take me. Talking in the groups

help , even if no one answers, it makes me feel better. So write more and if you

need a helping hand, just ask...... carvinmom in montana

[ ] Haven't Posted In A Long Time

Hi Everyone.

I haven't been posting, or even following the board. For that, I am

sorry, as I feel it is a good resource and tool for me to use while

battling this disease.

I have been so comsumed with the additional diagnosis of Multiple

Sclerosis and then Vasculits of the Brain, combined with my special

needs son acting out since September. I am lost. I have no clue

what to do.

Right now, I am on Plaquenil twice a day, MTX injections weekly -

but I haven't had it for 5 weeks, as everyone at home here has had

the flu, chest infections and even Pneumonia. I have Prednisone on

hand for emergencies, but I weened off of it a while ago. I do not

like taking it, as it caused me to gain 80 pounds in about a year.

I don't feel like my existing meds are working, and my last

bloodwork showed my liver isn't doing well. I will see my Rheumy

this month, and ask her if there are any supplements (like Omega 3-6-

9, etc) that I can take that will help. I was talking it for a

while with Flax Seed Oil, and notice a HUGE difference, but the doc

seems hell-bent on giving me meds. With all the illnesses I have -

there are a total of about 13 meds and supplements I must take all

the time. I am tired of the meds, tired of the expense, and tired

of taking it all and NOT getting any better.

Is there anyone else here that has given up on prescription meds,

and tried to change their diet, use supplements or vitamins to help

them feel better? I have lost almost the entire 80 pounds I had

gained, but I am still in pain. My GP said that my x-ray & MRI

showed that I needed bi-lateral hip and knee replacents. I am only

36!

Looking for any suggestions.

Hi.

Thanks for the reply. I just posted that I am now taking a supplement

instead of all the other RA drugs that are destroying my liver. I

also have Sjogren's, MS and Vasculitis of the Brain, so I need my

liver to be functioning as well as possible in order to prolong my

life. I am now taking the Glucosamine, Chondroitin and MSN 840MG at 6

capsules a day. I was taking flaxseed oil, but ran out of it a few

weeks back. I can honestly say that it did make a difference with my

skin, hair and my joint health. I have to pick some of it up as soon

as I can afford it.

Best of luck,

in Canada

most likely

we have muscles between our ribs that we can strain and pull. thats

why they say no vacuuming after surgery for 6 weeks.

In my experience, once we're banded we tend to attribute everything to

the band. Damn, the band made me break my ankle. The band must have

caused my sinus infection. etc, etc, etc.

In this case it sounds like the carpet cleaning. It is good to get

back to exercise (at any time) but take it easy. Most of us are

compulsive enough that we tend to overdo everything, just like we did

on eating.
