Guest guest
apple cider vinegar I just got Dr. n Whitaker's (MD) newsletter today, in which he states: " a study by Carol ston Ph.D. . . . found that 2 T of apple cider vinegar (mixed with water and a noncaloric sweetener) reduce glucose and insulin response when taken just before a high-carbohydrate meal (bagel and orange juice). Vinegar worked just as well as diabetes drugs, cutting the usual blood sugar surge in diabetics and those with insulin resistance ( " pre-diabetes " ) by 25 and 50%, respectively, and improving insulin sensitivity 19 and 34%. " She did a follow-up study recently where she had volunteers " take 2 T before 2 of their daily meals for 4 weeks. They lost an average of 2 pounds, some lost up to 4 (. . . " weight didn't budge in the control group " ). " She " speculates that vinegar may interfere with enzymes that break down carbohydrates, allowing them to pass through without being absorbed. " The brand was Bragg's, available at HF stores.
Guest guest
Hi Everyone, A few of my colleagues recently found out some athletes they know are taking apple cider vinegar before practices/games as a performance enhancer. I have never heard of this. I have heard that it helps with blood glucose control, but unsure how effective it is. Can anyone shed some light on Apple Cider Vinegar, it's effectiveness and mechanisms? Any insight is much appreciated! Thank you! le LaFata
