Guest guest
Bill, Did you stay downtown when you were there? If so I'll bet you really loved those 5 and 6 way intersections which ring downtwon Denver....(real big smile) Nope, the bus system has not gotten any better... The do now have a light rail system which is supposed to make it much faster to get down south from downtown. Cy, the Ancient Okie... Re: ACB convention Oh yes Cy, I remember Denver's wonderful bus system circa 1985. I hope it has gotten better since it was dubed " the ride " back then. With my one-week experience in that town trying to use their transit system, it's a wonder to me that anyone got anywhere. Bill
Guest guest
Cy, Oh yes I did stay downtown. I stayed in a motel on 6th and Federal, which I found out very quickly was not a savory part of town. The job I had that week was on 16th and Federal. If you know anything about those streets, you know that I had to take the line 30 up Federal, then I got off around 14th just before the freeway onramp; I then walked across an onramp, offramp, then another onramp and another offramp, all the way up to 17th or 18th, then crossed the street to walk back down to 16th to work across from Dennys. That was a real hoot and a half. Oh and the people I met while waiting for the return trip back to the motel....lotsa hookers around there. Boy did I know I was in Savoryville! During my visit I heard how the transit wasted millions on a 16th street Mall that nobody wanted rather than improving the buses. High-priced stores that nobody bought anything in. Real switft. Ah, memories! Bill
Guest guest
Wait lots bought things on the sixteenth street mall. You bet they did. At that time there was Pennies as well as Joslins I am sure. I loved the sixteenth mall no matter who was on it. Now I didn't think it fare when the guys would run over the older ladies and they would fall. This was street persons. I loved the shuttle it went faster than I could walk. Now new things are on the mall since you were there. Still more fun. Missing Denver. --Dar --Every Saint has a Past, Every Sinner has a Future Re: Denver > > Cy, > > Oh yes I did stay downtown.
