Get free travel to San Diego next year, maybe even to Philadelphia for FNCE 2012. Some members of the Executive Board get free travel/board and admittance to FNCE. Info below, but of course, you have to be a member of the DPG. (Consider joining DIFM board too! I served on the NE board many years ago - very valuable experience!) For the next MNPG Newsletter: Call for Nominations Would you like to get more involved with ADA, grow professionally, and have fun too? We invite you to run for a position with the Medical Nutrition Therapy Practice Group (MNPG)! These positions are a great way to get involved at the national level, can be something great for your portfolio, and a competitive advantage on your resume! You will receive free training from the ADA and your mentor. You will be included in meetings and teleconferences by the ADA for DPG leadership. The nominating committee members: Joan Ewig; Jan Patenaude; Hirschfeld, chair-elect; and Deborah Girvin, chair, put forth a call for nominations for: Chair-elect * Free trips to FNCE! * Candidates must have been involved with the MNPG for at least two years. * A three year commitment, one as chair-elect, one as chair, and one as past chair. * Chair-elect plans and leads the Spring executive committee meeting and starts planning for the FNCE meeting the following year which is a small time commitment. * When chair there is a larger time commitment, an average of 10 hours per week when preparing for the FNCE and executive committee meetings, and then some weeks with little time commitment. * The chair tasks include: communicating with members, acting as liaison to ADA, communicating with executive committee, appointing committee chairs, quarterly newsletter article, authorizing contracts/service agreements, assisting in budget preparation, directing the strategic plan, and planning and attending the FNCE meeting. * The past chair advises the chair and has a small time commitment including a DPG report to ADA at the end of the chair term. * Meeting commitments are about 3-4 days at FNCE, about 3 days at the Spring meeting, any executive committee meetings called by chair, and any special ADA meetings. Secretary * Free trips to FNCE! * Something great for your portfolio or resume! * A great way to get involved at the ADA level! * Two year commitment * Incumbent should have access to the internet, email, and a laptop computer with wireless internet access for meetings * Tasks include recording and distributing minutes for all meetings, maintaining official records for MNPG, and communicating with members especially new members. * Time commitment is about 4 hours a week dealing with meeting minutes and the membership drive, and then months of no activity. * Meeting commitments are about 3-4 days at FNCE, about 3 days at the Spring meeting, and any executive meetings called by chair. Nominating Committee * A great way to get involved if you don’t have much time to volunteer! * No required trips to meetings * Two year commitment * Recruit nominees for open positions, and obtain all information necessary for the nomination process. * The chair prepares the ballot and performs associated election tasks. * The time commitment is small and tasks are completed via email or teleconferences. * The nominating committee member with the most votes is the chair-elect and functions one year as chair-elect and one year as chair. Eligible candidates are: · members of the MNPG and active members of ADA · can simultaneously hold an elected or appointed position in an affiliate or district association, or an appointed position with another DPG/MIG, or an ADA committee (NEW!!!) · cannot simultaneously hold an elected position in another DPG/MIG or an elected ADA office.
