Guest guest
Oh, I got inventive with my resistance weights... I started out with no weights.. then moved to a matched pair of spinach cans... 15 oz... then moved up to a pair of 12 oz bottles filled with water... then to a pair of 20 oz bottles filled with water. Then to a 2 liter bottle.. that I did only one at a time because my left hand was not as strong and I needed to concentrate on that side more to get it more caught up with the right at that point.. Then dad remembered he had some three pound ankle weights so I used them on the same arm, or leg, at the same time... now I've wrapped those weights around a 20 oz bottle of water... so I've not weighed it yet.. but I'd guess that I'm about 8 pounds.... So now I've run out of ideas...unllessss I might be able to use the velcro on the ankle weights and attach both of them to a 2 liter bottle that would be up towards 11 pounds or so... so I guess I do have a bit of a ways to go before I have to come up with something else... It's amazing what you can come up with if you put your imagination to work. I lost all my lifting equipment with my house.... two benches. all the weights, bars and dumbbells... everything! Really sucks! I've decided to try to get ahead enough to get an extra 25 pound sack of flour and use it for presses.. then as I empty a sack the lifting sack will get used and I'll get another lifting sack..... kind of a weird way to do it, but it will be like having the weight be free! I don't drive.. so getting in to town for massage isn't likely.. but it's a great suggestion! I've been working pretty consistently on extending my range of motion... Just going at it really slow... I have NO desire to cause injury and have to stop to heal... so it's the baby step approach for me. Never thought of milk jugs.. I'll have to ponder on that... the problem that comes to mind is that the wrist would be turned 90 degrees off.... but if two bottles were attached to a rod.. that might line up the wrist again.. Hmmmm.. will have to ponder on that so that when I need that much resistance I'll have it figured out.... Great ideas, !
