has been sick since Oct. 19th and in the hospital for the past week.

We had many tests and I need help understanding them and what questions to

ask when we go to Atlanta, GA Nov. 29-30 of this month.

Last Oct. 1998 she had elevated lactose in her blood but her MRI showed no

damage since her birth (she was born with a damaged brain, DX in utero in my

7th month via an mri on my belly, we prepared for her death not birth) and

her MRS showed no increased levels of lactose.

As of last week (after increased seizures) her first spinal tap/lumbar

puncture showed elevated lactose & proteins...so her MD says she has lactic

acidois. I have not gotten a copy of her report, yet.

Does anyone know or can they direct me to a site that will list disorders

that are congenital not acquired lactic acidois?

Is lactic acidois a metabolic(nuclear dna) or mitochondria(material

mDNA)... is my first child, I question the risk of future pregnancies.

I guess in any case, there is always the possibility that it happened

spontaneously or is 25%, 50%, or 100% chance of happening again.

My questions for now, thanks for any feedback,

Amy, Bucks County, PA (mom to (23mos), possible mito, seizures,

global developmental delay, microcepaly, GI reflux and GI delay in emptying,

CVI, ? Hearing, and the best smile and giggle)

Amy,

I never heard of this. Do you mean an ultrasound? I know it has been a few

years since I had a baby, but still, I can't imagine that. Would love to

understand more.
