Guest guest
Dear FORUM, The issue was raised at the India session at the Toronto AIDS Conference. NACO consultant Dr Rewari said that some govt hospitals are charging Rs 500 for the first test, with subsequent ones to be free. This charge too may soon be done away with, he said in reply to a question on the disparity in CD4 testing charges at different govt. establishments. NACO should be able to provide further details. Guest guest
Dear FORUM, Which NACO policy? The PLHA in JJ Hospital in Mumbai is asked to pay for the CD4 count.Rs 500 for the base line, then after you can get treatment for free. But how many can afford Rs 500, with out bargaining something else? It is access for free treatment. However, not free care. NOT YET. Dr. G. Guest guest
Dear Forum As a PLHA I am wondering what is happening to our country, with regards to AIDS Policy making. Universally, we are talking about FREE ACCESS TO TREATMENT. But, I am just amazed with NACO policy on payment for CD4 testing. Everywhere they are charging Rs.200 to Rs. 500. However, in the state of Nagaland, they are doing at free of cost. What sort of policy is this? Ratan e-mail: <ratanng@...>
