Guest guest
Kat, I am feeling exactly this same way. I have been five days now just trying to get rec for lab test. Doc sent one for test today and it will not open on my computer. He is not available now. One day at a time can be so...difficult. I hear you. Frannie discouraged and whining Hi all, I just need to vent, I think. I am so discouraged that I am not feeling better and just feeling stuck. I ahve been on Armour for 6 wks now, feeling no difference at this point. I am on 1 1/4 grains Armour right now. I know that the dosage needs to be increased, but I just don't have the motivation to do anything about it. I am suppose to go back to the doc on Feb 4 and I expect that my meds will be increased at that point, but in the meantime I just feel like crap. I want to call the doc and say....I need to come now, I need an increase now, but again, just don't have the motivation. Maybe it is because I am afraid he will just say no. I know many people here have had years upon years of dealing with this...getting meds right...I don't know, just feeling bummed and nowhere to turn really. Thanks for listening......Kat

Guest guest
My husband and I feel the same way. We have been on Armour for about 10 weeks and are not feeling anything yet. I am on 180mg and he is on 150mg. We are increasing by 30mg every two weeks and have just added Isocort and DHEA this weekend. We are just tired all the time, irritable, and no motivation. The hard thing is he is out of work and has nothing to lend to the search for work. We are just trying to hang in there as I can't see anything else to do. Guest guest
How are you taking the meds? For some it works good to take once a day.. for others it takes two or more times a day...... Personally I dose 5 times a day... that, right now, is my magical number..... It also matters how you take them. If you are swallowing them, especially with food, you can lose over 50% of the medication to binding and poor absorption.... Supplements like Selenium and Vitamin C increase conversion and absorption......... Topper () On Mon, 12 Jan 2004 18:33:12 -0500 " son " writes: > My husband and I feel the same way. Guest guest
You should wait at least 4 weeks maybe 6 to 8 between each dose change. You are raising too fast! Guest guest
Hi Kat, Just remember that it might have taken years for your body to get in the condition it's in because of your thyroid so it will take time to feel better. All I can suggest is to not give up and hang in there. In time you will start feeling better. Louise > Hi all, I just need to vent, I think. Guest guest
I have to disagree , you are adding your armour just right. When I went on I went on 60 mgs the first week, 120 the second week, 180 third...etc. I got to 240 and needed to come down a little. All the while watching for shakey hands, heart palps, nervousness etc. I got a little of that at about 240. Then cut my dosage in half taking 120 am 120 pm and it cured the shakes. Your 30 mgs up every two weeks is a great idea. You aren't feeling ANYTHING yet? I believe you'll feel something by 240..if not you both may be resisting your T3. T3 resistant. Lets take it one step at a time though... PattiSue 29:11 discouraged and whining Hi all, I just need to vent, I think. I am so discouraged that I am not feeling better and just feeling stuck. Guest guest
The key is that you wont feel the affect of the medication you take today for 7 - 10 days. It takes that long for the T4 to build up in your system. Yes T3 is short acting but it's a combination of the 2 medications. If you are waiting just 1 week to increase your medication you aren't giving yourself enough time to feel the effects of the dose you were on. I say take it slow. I think it was Janie or Topper who told the story of someone on another list that kept incresing his medication and he got to the point where he had a hyper storm and had to stop all his medication to get it out of his system than start again and increasing his medication slowly. Louise > I have to disagree , you are adding your armour just right. Guest guest
I think a distinction has to be made as to whether you have ever been hyper, had hashi's or have no thyroid and if you are otherwise healthy, wothout pituitary or parathyroid involvement...we're all individuals....I think nothing short of a stick of dynamite could make me hyper...but I am simply hypothyroid, period..and pretty healthy otherwise...when my son began to up his dose on Armour, he did not go hyper, but became more exhausted...this is when the doctor tested his adrenals.
There are so many variables. > That was me.... I made an increase from 2 1/2 grain to 3... Guest guest
> My body does not convert at all which is why I am now on Armour and the free t3 stays at the bottom. My free t3 then was flagged as low. I no longer have the severe fatigue when I increase slowly even with the low results. I have lots of room to increase, but for once in over a year, I can think and function. Is it possible that when a person is a poor converter, her problem can be remedied for good at some point?? about 11 years ago I was on .2 SYNTHROID....FT4 always tested WAY HIGH over the range, while FT3 way below range. This is when he put me on 50mcg, cytomel as well...and my FT3 came up, but not very much..about 6 months later he put me on Armour. He mentioned that once I was getting my FT3 in a decent range, the problem would be " solved " and it now seems to be. I'm going to a different doctor now, but is this true? does a poor converter " solve " the problem by taking Armour, and therefore now more RT3's a produced?? Is it because I am not only a poor converter, but also hypothyroid??
