Guest guest
Almost 14 years ago.... my early thirties... still stupid enough to believe that a doctor could never make a mistake and to trust them completely..... I sure know better now.... I had one doc call me a 'smart ass' because I questioned him! hehehehehe I'm smarter than he is... I can read someone's record and state facts accordingly AND if I make a simple mistake own up to it, correct my oversight and strive to not repeat it.... I sure don't come up with replies like 'smart ass' to the person that points out the oversight! I believe the RAI saved the life of one of them...and I didn't see much of a choice for the other one either. My friend Judy, who had this done at age 19 - well this is nearly 40 years later and she is great...she never needed Armour until approx. 10 years ago. has always had energy and seemed liked anyone out there who has a thyroid which works perfectly and I think that if RAI ever turns out as it should - it certainly did with her - it killed just enough of her thyroid. Of course, I have never had to face the prospect of RAI or surgery myself, but knowing these two women has made me realize it's not always the worst thing either. The worst thing is what they went thru with the storm and the meds not making a dent in it. The younger woman had it done approx. 12 years ago, and last year had her first child. she is also feeling wonderful. I agree, though - it does seem barbaric, as do so many things that the medical community lays on us. Probably not enough research into what can be done to remedy this without such drastic methods.
