Guest guest
Well back in June a DR I went to see found my aldosterone VERY low through a urine test. he ignored it. When I went to Friedman, he made me go two days no salt and did blood. It and the renin were VERY low. Yesterday was day 1 of a full pill a day. I noticed no difference till yesterday except I have had a funny smell to my urine for a few years and that was gone. Yesterday I went to the bathroom so much that I think my electrolytes are off. My legs were cramping in the middle of the night and I awake with a headache I can't get rid of. Aside from the stuff I have mentioned, I feel no different. It is supposed to help my low blood pressure. I have noticed nothing there, but then I don't take it. He upped my Armour 15 mg when I was there and I just raised it 2 weeks later another 15. I am waiting for 2 midnight saliva tests to come back. My am cortisol after driving 2 hours and being angry at 9:30, was 9, pretty low. I was dxed with hyoreneinism and hypoaldosterone. I have had many people say he does that a lot, but I knew there was an issue with that before, so that is why I went to him. As far as they Armour, he was going to add some t4 to me, but my t3 was so low, he raised the Armour. I also made it quite clear that I have heard some good results on people mixing the t4 with the Armour when they have an issue with high t3 not t4, but I would let him know what I wanted after the tests. He right away said my t3 was too low, so like I said upped me. I have brown patches of hyperpigmentation on my gums and abdomen striations too. Re: Re: raising meds when it is cold Jamy, when do you take the iron in relation to your meds? I've been taking mine about an hour before bed time... that way it has the run of my system during the night.... it's doing well for me.... ... I'll explain what I base that on... All my life I've had to watch to make sure that I get enough Iron.. for me, when I'm in need of it I crave Brussels sprouts and beef liver.... This is the second time that I've gotten beef liver and cooked it up and comfortably divided it up into several mini-meals. In the past... I'd sit down and eat all the liver in one batch.... just wolfed the stuff down.... When I got some in November, I was still in wolf mode.... but when I got it in December I stretched it into 13 meals (2 pounds of it) and the batch that I got this week was just a bit less than a pound and I got 4 meals out of it... No NEED to wolf it all in one fell swoop.... So my body is doing much better. I'm doing (rats, don't have the numbers in front of me.... ) 100% of the RDA in my multi-vitamins, those are divided up into 8 pieces, one taken with each mini-meal during the day and one an hour before bed time when I take a half tab of a tablet that is 365% of RDA.... My thyroid meds are still doing okay... My thyroid is non functional (killed by RAI) and when I went up the 3 grain last month I went hyper.. so the iron is not binding the thyroid doing it this way.... ... my hyper state is over BTW... I'm feeling great again. Normal appetite... back to convincing myself to not skip any of my mini-meals so that I don't lower my metabolic rate as I continue to lose weight! Big Grin! Guest guest
According to the conversion table, .50 mcg Levoxyl would convert to a half grain of Armour (30 mg) Dianne At 04:15 AM 1/8/04 -0800, you wrote: >Pattie Sue, >So what would the 50mcg of Levoxyl be if it were Armour? Guest guest
Yes, and if I were on 2.25 grain straight Armour before this change. I now am getting 1/2 to 3/4 grain less. If I were undermedicated to begin with this is pretty drastic. Frannie Re: Re: raising meds when it is cold-Iron ? Guest guest
Hi, Frannie, Yes! That is the problem that I noted earlier. I see my doctor tomorrow, and will be asking for an upward change in my dose. The T3 is what I need, as my ability to convert T4 to T3 is impaired. The weight problem alone is bad enough, but the flagging energy levels are making me a bit crazy. My daily dose of Armour is taken at 8 in the morning. I am thinking that the extra 1/2 grain could be taken at noon and would handle that " plunge " in the late afternoons. I will let you all know how this turns out. So far, he has been more than reasonable Dianne At 04:35 AM 1/11/04 -0800, you wrote: >Yes, and if I were on 2.25 grain straight Armour before this change. I now >am getting 1/2 to 3/4 grain less. Guest guest
Dianne, I got so fed up waiting to hear from my doctor via e-mail that I paged him. He confirmed I am dosing as he instructed. I told him I was in very bad shape and I was going to the lab am. He said, good, we'll see. Now to suffer on, waiting for the labs and for an increase (if needed) to take place. The lab in the past has been one day with results but the doc sometimes takes a week or more. I do not want to up my meds until I have this draw. I just want to see if the ft3 or ft4 has fallen way down. Please keep me posted on what you learn tomorrow. Guest guest
Hi, Frannie! If you have made your doctor aware of how you are feeling, then you might try to contact the lab to learn when they have sent the results to him. The lab my doctors uses has a 24-hour turnaround for results, unless a procedure requires longer time (cultures and such do). Once you know that the results are in your doctor's office, perhaps you could contact him or his nurse and have him read the results to you and authorize an increased dose. Email me when you do hear from the doctor, okay? At this point, I have decided that if the doctor does not increase my dose, then I will begin purchasing the additional Armour myself by traveling across the border to Mexico. I don't do well on such long trips, but I will do what I have to do to climb out of this feeling so sick all the time. I have an early appointment with my doctor in the morning, so I will let you know what he has to say...
