Guest guest
Hi All, Wanted to hear if any of you have experienced this scenerio. Bart has severe behaviors around eating(wanting prompts-like eat your crackers). All behavior modification ideas did not work. When he started the vitamin cocktail last christmas eve these behaviors minimized and he neede no prpmpts around eating. He started trying new foods but like only once per month and he " steals from others plates " like mine. But this is not good in inclusion at school at lunch. The sad thing is that this behavior is back and it is everywhere. I refused verbal prompts for food, tried going to physical prompts, I've actually been able to feed him with a spoon. But his need is so great for a prompt he now touches us with his spoon on our forearms before he eats. I guess this is classis autism(he is diagnosed) but could it be his lactate acid levels are up again even on the vitamin cocktail? Well we are going to run a blood test but not sure what to do even if it is up. But what if it is not....Now this has gone so far that to do an independent let's say puzzle activity that he could do all by himself 2 months ago he now need this prpmpt so badly that he actullay crooses the room with each puzzle piece to tap our forearms and returns to put the puzzle piece in. Each piece the same until he is finished. AHHHH he is driving me bananas. Can't medicate for OCD type behaviors which I think is just ritualistic perservative behaviors in autism. He looks soooo frustrated that we are refusing to give him his prompts he so seemingly desparatly needs. Then he cries and throws himself on the floor. SO WHAT DO YOU THINK was this vitamin cocktail working for awhile to reduce lactate acid levels and now it isn't or it needs to be changed or I had a window open and now it is gone. I worry so when I deal with behaviors around eating. Kathy F
