Barb, those are 2 of the biggies. My sister in law

just moved into a gigantic house that has 6 bathrooms,

and it is just the 2 of them...okay, why couldn't we

hae stayed there...we wouldn't have been in anybody's

way? The answer: cuz MIL would have her feelings

hurt.

3. When staying in close quarters, it is not good

manners to ask son what his wife things about

something, when she can hear her asking the question.

(I always hear, " does want this or that?

Cripes, ask me, I'm not deaf nor am I on my deathbed!

Good grief, I thought I was the only one with that problem! What mine does is ask questions like:

"Does TJ want a glass milk or tea with supper?"

((She can't bother her boy with a question like this.))

So I say no - he'll want water. Ahh but now is when it gets good...then she will ask him!! After all, how would I know what a man I've lived with for 34 years wants to drink? He says water, doesn't matter - she does this ALL the time.

One funny thing his family does is what I call

"THE EM RULE" Always say the name of the blood family person and their spouse is "EM" (This may be a Arkansas thing I'm not sure.) So it's TJ & EM instead of TJ & Barb - & EM, Molly & EM. They even go so far as Ken & EM ((Meaning The Dog From Hell!!)) When I send birthday cards to any of the EM's I address them Mr. EM . All of us Em's get a kick out of it.

Oh Penny,

Asking anything about a new bride's cooking is a risky

area.

Barb,

That was good! I can relate to what you say, but thank God it's not my

current mother-in-law! She is a sweetie, and one of my closest friends.

However, I have experienced the MIL from HELL and I don't miss her a bit!!!

Glad to hear you got to enjoy your BD, even if it was belated! Can't wait to

hear the scoop after the bed bouncing routine!!! I'm already laughing. It

would serve her right for being...well, less than a peach! :-)

I'm going to jump up and down on the bed tonight!

Will let you know the outcome. We just spent the

night at the casino resort just to get away...and to

celebrate my birthday that was foiled on Friday.
