Guest guest
Hi group, I'm awaiting my surgery on July 12 with Dr. Milhorat. I was placed on Oxycontin 20mg twice a day almost 2 weeks ago by my PCP to help with my increasing and debilitating pain. It has helped the pain to be much more tolerable. However, now I am suffering terrible nausea. I recall having some minimal nausea intermittently before starting the oxycontin, but now it is daily and becoming quite severe, and in fact I will call the doc today to get something for it. I'm wondering if it is from the oxycontin, although this constant and more severe nausea didn't start until about the 4th or 5th day. Can Nausea be a symptom of the Chiari? I did notice yesterday that it became much worse, after bending down to get something, or even if I turned my head. I did not find it on Dr. Milhorat's list of symptoms in his published article. Thanks for your replies. Alice

Guest guest
Hi Alice, Nausea is definately a symptom of Chiari. I nausea on and off for a year, then constantly for 2 months before my surgery in Jan. My was worse with movement, too. After about 2 months post op it was completely gone. Still is and I hope always will be! Blessings, in VA alice derby caldwell wrote: > > Hi group, > > Can Nausea be a symptom of the Chiari? Guest guest
Hi all, I never had nausea as a symptom before my second decompression. Now I am nauseous every day. I find that it does get worse with movement but I just thought it was because of my double vision and balance problems (both which are now worse since second surgery). Does anyone have any input on this and does anyone know of any medication to help fight the nausea? Debi in NC Chiari, Hydrocephalus, nystagmus, ataxia, neurally mediated hypotension. 2 Decompressions ( 1992 & 2000), VP shunt, 5 shunt revisions, and still having problems.
