Weight and women thru lifecycle

As women age, their levels of " good " estrogen; estradiol, typically decrease and

the levels/ratio of " bad " estrogen; estrone increase.

Estradiol favors fat deposition on hips, positively effects blood fats and water

balance and protects bone mass.

Estrone (higher presence after menopause), drives abdominal fat deposition,

general fat storing, and is a factor in insulin resistance.

Diet, meds, exercise pattern, and genetics influence one's hormone production.

As women age and they dont eat well and exercise, their resting metabolic rate

declines each year (less muscle/ more fat % each year). When they eat the same

number of kcals, they gain wt and turn from pears to apples due partly from the

hormonal shifts of menopause.

Subj: weight and women thru lifecycle

Anyone have reference for weight changes thru the lifecycle for women?

Especially, how much weight can " average " woman expect to gain from

perimenopsause thru menopause? Having trouble finding what I'm looking for.

Would

also like to be able to correlate in some way with declining estrogen levels,

if possible. Have found articles on body comp changes.

Thanks,

Sharon
