Guest guest
When I consulted an IR a couple of years ago, he told me at there was a new (~2 years ago) study that indicated that the appearance of post UAE fibroids (in uterii that were later removed for various reasons) was indistinguishable from the appearance of post-menopausal fibroids. It's sort of the opposite of the question that you're asking - but if post UAE fibroids disintegrate, and ultimately look the same as post menopausal ones it seems logical that the post menopausal ones are also disintegrating. Since I stopped considering a UAE shortly after that I didn't track down the study he was referring to. >>Does anyone know how one knows if fibroids are disintegrating of their own accord? Has this happened to anyone and what are the symptoms?<< _________________________________________________ FindLaw - Free Case Law, Jobs, Library, Community http://www.FindLaw.com Get your FREE @JUSTICE.COM email! http://mail.Justice.com
Guest guest
I had a uterine embolization in January 1999 and it was without a doubt a success, the heavy bleeding and cramping stopped BUT my abdomen is now the size of a 7-month pregnancy due to the size of the fibroid tumors and I am now considering having a hysterectomy since I am 51 years old and I am concerned of the pressure on my other organs............any comments or advice. Thanks. Guest guest
If you are going to have surgery anyway, then why not have a myomectomy? There's plenty of good reasons to keep your parts if possible. The uterus produces prostaglandins which protect your heart from cardiovascular disease and maintain a healthy immune system. If you have your ovaries removed, then you are in for a long list of potential health problems. According to Dr. Colgan's book " Hormonal Health " The loss of the uterus increases cardiovascular disease risk up to 500%. The loss of the ovaries can lead to depression for up to 5 years following surgery (50% of women in some studies), bowel and bladder dysfunction, loss of libido and personality changes, osteoporosis, development of arthritis and joint problems. I could go on and on. Then there is the whole HRT cancer risk issue and the long period of trying to fine tune hormones in the face of loosing everything the uterus and ovaries make. They don't just stop working after menopause. Tish
