Guest guest
Hi Dina, Welcome to the site! You'll find great information here as well as informative people who can guide you to a great Dr. or just chatting with someone with similar problems can also be beneficial! I have a fibroid that is 1.6 and another that is 4.4. I was also on Alese and that is when I found out that I had fibroids. I am 34 years old and had been on numerous types of b/c. Always had an annual pap with no problems or enlargement of the uterus until I was 30. I had been on Allese for one year and had problems with this b/c. Heavy periods, prolonged and everything else. Not to say that this pill caused my problems because I'm not sure..but it is kind of strange that I didn't have any problems until I started using this particular one! (I know that this particular pill has one of the lowest doses of hormones.) My uterine lining was also noted to be thick after using this pill, I stopped taking this one and currently don't use anything, and who knows if I can say my problem started with that pill or if it was just a fluke. I don't really understand all the pill info. because estrogen is a contributing factor in fibroid formation, so why do Dr's continue to put us on b/c when there is a chance the pill can make the fibroid grow??? Who knows...I guess pain and to regulate periods, but Allese didn't do that for me! It caused all the adverse effects. Everyone is diff. though, so, your results may be different. Good luck and keep us posted. SKY --- Dina wrote: > Hello everyone, I've been reading the e-mails for a > couple of months now but > this is the first time I've written. Guest guest
Hi Dina, I used to be on a higher estrogen pill (Ovcon 35) and had a lot of those same symptoms for a week before my period. My other half calls it my grumpy time of month. I had all those symptoms (breasts tender, rather grumpy, and tired) as well as some light cramping, but no trouble sleeping. In fact, I slept more than normal. My doctor just switched my pill to Nordette, which has less estrogen. I'm still in my first month of it, but so far things are going well. FYI, I am also 30 and learned about my fibroid (they think I just have one big one) in early March. - >--- Dina wrote: > > Hello everyone, I've been reading the e-mails for a > > couple of months now but > > this is the first time I've written. Guest guest
Hi Dina and Sky; This is in response to the subject of Alese birth control pills. I was taking them from August '00 until last month (april) to treat symptoms of fibroids. The only thing good I can say about my experience is that my period came like clockwork - every fourth tuesday. I experienced bloating, fibroids seemed to swell before my period, I gained weight and just over all didn't feel myself. I decided to go off last month and guess what, all those nasty symptoms are gone... My stomach shrank back down in size and i am not willing to try the pills again unless i absolutely have to. I researched alese pill on the internet and one side effect was hair loss. This is a common complaint of many women who use it. I also don't understand how the pill which has estrogen,no matter how low dose can do anything other than make fibroids grow. Guest guest
Hi Dina, Welcome to the group. I was diagnosed in Feb. of this year with fibroids. I am still in the research stage of this but I am planning on having something done about this next month (June). I am sick and tired of being sick and tired all the time. So I am going to make a decision regarding which procedure to use this month. Any how good luck in making a decision. Just keep reading the posts and the archives and the recommended web sites and books. They will give you good info to use as a base for making a decision.
