Guest guest
Hi everyone Happy New Year - lets holpe this will be the best yet! I have suddenly noticed how big my tongue is. It has never been thin, but just the past couple of months or so - it is really getting in my way. It is very fat, got teeth marks around the side, I keep biting it and it gets in the way of my speech sometimes. I know this is a hypothyroid symptom but does anybody know if it will ever go away once I optimise my medication. I am taking 2 1/2 grains Armour and 25mcgs. of T4 and am otherwise well. Guest guest
Over the years my treatment has cycled... when I'm on meds my tongue is normal... without meds my tongue gets big.... as your meds optimize and your body settles down I would expect that your's will go back to normal too. I went, literally, for years with a tongue so big that I could not comfortably close my mouth so that my teeth touched... and I was always biting the side... I got into a 'habit posture' of putting the end of my tongue between my front teeth... It stretched my tongue out so that I didn't bite the sides and it reminded me by having the tip in the front like that, to not close my mouth all the way... Back then I didnt' know it was a thyroid thing... but so many of the things that I dealt with than I didn't know was thyroid... I had a boyfriend that teased me about my tongue peaking out like that... he said that I looked like a little kitten... the way they have their little tongues sticking out when they sleep, after they've been nursing... So I guess it might be considered one of the cuter 'abnormalities' Topper () On Thu, 1 Jan 2004 12:12:50 -0000 " Sheila " writes: > Hi everyone > > Happy New Year - lets holpe this will be the best yet! > > I have suddenly noticed how big my tongue is.
