Guest guest
Shelli, Hopefully I am remembering correctly. I think you mentioned you had an appt. with Dr.Glazer in NY, but didn't find out if it helped b/c you no longer had the problem due to low oxalate diet. What exactly did he do at your appt? Did you buy the biofeedback equipment. The reason I am asking is b/c the specialist,Dr.Kaufman, I saw in Houston,TX referred me to contact Dr.Glazer for biofeedback and I emailed him and he suggested I have a consult with the Dr. in Houston that he has hand-trained-Dr.Mckay. Houston is 7 hrs away and I am frustrated b/c I would have scheduled to see her the day I saw Dr. Kaufman, who just told me to contact Glazer and have my PT contact Dr.Mckay to work out details of Glazer Protocol. He didn't tell me I had to see Dr.Mckay. When I called Dr.Mckay she said I would need to see her first for an assessment and to order the equipment and have it sent to her office so she could show me how to use it and then would need a follow-up appt exactly 2 wks after first appt. She said she would talk to my PT but it would be pointless if I didn't see her for initial assessment and follow-up b/c if I was using the " wrong " muscles it would be a waste of my time and money. After first 2 appts I could follow-up with my PT here where I live who could correspond with Dr.Mckay and I may need to see her periodically. I am okay with going back down there to see her if it's pointless not to, although I am not happy about it b/c its so far away and Dr.Kaufman should have told me that in first place, but I talked w/ his nurse today and she said it's not necessary to have first 2 appts with Dr.Mckay first, and that they referr all patients that don't live in Houston to PT's in their town and tell them to just consult with either Dr.Mckay or Dr.Glazer. I told her that Dr.Mckay said he does usually set up for patients to see her on the same day and even patients out of town. Regardless of which is true, I told his nurse that he needs to communicate with Dr.Mckay, b/c she perferrs to see patients herself, and if that's the case, he needs to pre-arrange for his patients from out of town to schedule to see her on same day. Dr.Glazer even said I need to see her first b/c she know his protocol. Here I go again getting carried away. So, any info you have on appt. with Dr.Glazer, biofeedback, or anything you have heard about it from others would be helpful. I am just trying to figure out if its worth the effort and expense to buy equipment and travel back to Houston. BTW-How long did it take to notice low oxalate diet worked? Thats also in the back of my mind, as some foods do seem to make a difference, but I tried to start the diet on Sun. and I have already cheated several times. Also am considering the urine test with Dr.s, which is a little pricey, and think I should try biofeedback first since that's what the specialist suggested.
