Guest guest
Madalyn, Like you, I’ve maintained my weight, and my size within a few inches throughout most of my adult life. I do have the good fortune of having an extremely fast metabolism, and a “thin†constitution w very small frame. I’m not sure what would happen if I ever sat down for longer than 30 seconds, but I did have to purposely gain about 10 lbs years ago. I do believe the frame or body shape changes with age if no effort is expended in controlling those changes due to fat accumulation in the abdominal area (the built-in keep store fuel and keep vital organs warm). I am post menopause (70 yrs old) I have maintained (or lost a few Pounds) my weight of 120 I used to be 5'4 " now 5'3 " All of my post menopausal friends have done the same. Oh, one 82 yr old friend has gained about 10 lbs. We are all very active and eat well. My 98 yr old mother (who got a pacemaker yesterday) she lives independently, with an aide from 10 to 4 to drive and help her shop. She has maintained her weight over the years. So, if you get some references, I would love to see them. US Mountain Standard Tim Subj: weight and women thru lifecycle Anyone have reference for weight changes thru the lifecycle for women? Especially, how much weight can " average " woman expect to gain from perimenopsause thru menopause? Having trouble finding what I'm looking for. Would also like to be able to correlate in some way with declining estrogen levels, if possible. Have found articles on body comp changes. Thanks, Sharon Sharon Salomon, M.S., R.D.
