Greg LeMonde, Tour de France winner. He doesn't make much of the disease,

though, preferring to focus on his post-Tour business ventures. I checked out

his website and found no mention of mitochondrial disease.

I think it is obvious he must be pretty mildly affected at this time. Unless

he is more significantly impacted, he may not wish to do too much in the way

of fund raising.

Michele, Years ago a young man by the name of Greg LeMond had to retire

from professional cycle racing due the diagnosis of mitochondrial

myopathy. He only won the Tour de France three or four times. I think

the only American to do so. I don't know what ever happened to him. I

have heard he took up racing cars and was in Las Vegas, but that has

been a few years ago now.
