Guest guest
I've used cortef with Isocort as well. My reasoning is that many of the isocort ads say it's a good thing to use while weaning off of steroids. I figure if I have taken, say 10mg. of cortef in a day and hope to start coming off of it, I take another 2-4 Isocort later that day and am still supporting my adrenals. I always treat Isocort as though it has 2.5 mg. cortisol in each pellet. My doctor feels the reason Bezwecken doesn't come forward with the actual amount of cortisol in each is that it is not standardized, and so can vary from pellet to pellet and batch to batch...this would open Bezwecken up to a law suit if they claim it has X amount and someone wants to go after them because they found some pellets that did not have that much.(because you all know how the FDA and others like to go after anyone they think they have a chance of stopping - false claims is a good one, I guess) He has told me he is quite certain Isocort DOES have cortisol in it - he thinks 2.5 per 2 pellets..he says a serving is 2 pellets...where he gets that I don't know!!. but, for safety's sake, I feel I need to treat them as though each pellet contains 2.5 mg. - since it does say not to exceeed 8 in a day. So - this is my reasoning. I use them interchangeably with the Cortef, knowing it's not as bad as stopping abruptly or not weaning down on the dose.
