Guest guest
I am finding all of your letters very informative...Thank you all! I am still curious to hear if anyone fifty or so has had HRT recommended and are you on it? My " young " internist seemed to indicate that I should remain on HRT in spite of large fibroids...I will see my gynecologist on Tuesday, but he originally prescribed these hormones (femhrt) -There is major heart disease and oseoporosis after menopause in my family. I understand it is very difficult to wean off these hormones..Does anyone know of an HRT group, also?---- Original Message ----- To: <uterinefibroids > Sent: Sunday, May 20, 2001 10:58 AM Subject: UAE and subserosal fibroids > > It has been so helpful to know there are others who I can relate to about > these little (big?) monsters! > > Do any of you know if UAE can be done on subserosal fibroid? Guest guest
Hi , My understanding was if it was pedunculated (on a stalk) subserosal it should be removed by myo. Otherwise it might deteriorate outside the uterus and cause problems once it starts shrinking after UAE. Depending on position, it could be done by laparscopic myo. At least, that's what my gyn told me. I have one large pedunculated subserosal (6-7 cm) and a bunch of smaller fibroids otherwise inside. I was hoping to get UAE immediately followed by a lap myo but got turned down on insurance for UAE (though I just finished writing my grievance to appeal insurance co denial so maybe it'll still go thru)
Guest guest
> Do any of you know if UAE can be done on subserosal fibroid? I had a UAE on March 28, 2001, for two fibroids, one subserosal and one intramural. I believe that as long as the subserosal fibroid hasn't obtained a secondary blood supply that's not from the uterine arteries, the UAE should be effective. I have had relief from symptoms since my procedure, but I'm not due for the follow-up MRI and/or ultrasound until June 30, so I don't know what, if any, reduction in the size of the fibroids has been achieved.
