Guest guest
I've tried all types of supplements to stop the twitching and the cramping.... I had severe cramping for more than two years after my RAI... I did a whole body cramp thing... it was so extreme that I was NOT able to stretch when I woke up... you know that unconscious stretch you do when you first wake.... I got a whole body cramp the could last as long as two hours.. totally unable to move until the muscles unlocked... The endo I was working with had told me to expect it... so I didn't freak the first time.. but with all the stuff that we tried we never did find anything to help or ease it... I just had to wait it out.... I can't begin to tell you how wonderful it feels to stretch now.... I'm not afraid of it anymore. Guest guest
I think that the major difference is the fact that you no longer have a thyroid. I do, yet it works at the most 50%, but it is amazing what happens and to what extreme it happens when you no longer have a thyroid..even if it was disfunctional. I wish all to know that losing the thyroid should be the very last option....Every woman I've talked to that has lost her thyroid...has symptoms like those that have their thyroid...only to a very bad extreme. I thank you for opening up my eyes to the fact that cramping, and twitches and firings can be internal also....not just the surface muscles. It NEVER dawned on me that my diaphragm and stomach were cramping. It is a new experience for me just within the last year...started right after I had the baby. And we all know that pregnancy and the strain / stresses of hormonal imbalances that occur afterward can leave us with many different symptoms. I wish I could find the answer for you...when I do, you'll be the first to know. I have written many things down to ask my doc about...ya never know...he's probably dealt with all of this before and has a good answer. Lets hope for that!! Guest guest
I'm open to suggestions.... you can never tell what silly little thing can make a big difference. I used to have severe waking pain.... 'Mac truck syndrome'. Aching back, sore ribs, generally feeling worse after sleeping then if I'd stayed awake sitting up all night.. I cured that overnight. How? I'd been taking my last dose of thyroid at 7 pm.. my first dose at 7 am... the other doses spread evenly during the day.... nothing over night.... I readjust my doses so that I took one just as I went to bed. just tuck it under my tongue as I crawl into bed. In the morning. I pop another one under my tongue when I wake up.... 1/2 grain at each dose.... That very first morning when I got out of bed, NO PAIN! Now that I've had to reduce my doses because of the hyper OD... the waking pain is starting to come back.. I've got mildly sore ribs again... I'll stick it out one more night.. but starting tomorrow I'll be taking a dose at bed time...and one when I wake... and the third around noon..... I'm feeling a bit chilled this evening... and considering the house temp is up to 75, my folks are due back sometime in the next hour. I think I've worked out some of that excess T4.... Not ready to go back up to my full (pre-hyper) dose quite yet... a couple more days at the short dose and then I'll ease up again. I have a question.. has any body read anything about what, if anything, happens with thyroid hormone while sleeping? Is it used in the healing processes that we go through during sleep? Or for fighting off illness? anything like that? How much does not having a thyroid that can give some hormone during the night, when we aren't up take meds, affect our body process?
