Guest guest
Good evening! I was contacted by a collegue of my husbands who was inquiring about causes of increased LDL and total chol (sm increase) during weight loss (90 days) (HDL increased and trig decreased as to be expected). Her clients (2 males, age unknown)are following a weight loss strength/cardio program which includes a " healthy diet " that is consistent with low glycemic eating plan (including high intake of vegetables and lean proteins) from what I can understand. I did a quick search and found that an increase in LDL can sometimes occur (undesireable results) when low carbohydrate diets are consumed. This is my first hunch if total CHO intake is too low plus low glycemic and ? if lean meat intake higher than start of the program leading to increase in saturated fat intake.... Any other thoughts or possible causes that I may be missing? Anything related to specifically low glycemic eating (I dont usually promote low glycemic eating on an inpatient basis). All thoughts and input welcome. TIA Carley Colotti
