Why would you need more than a full replacement dose even though you still have your thyroid? Is it " thyroid resistance " - the thyroid hormone not actually getting into the cells? Is it some other reason? Currently I am feeling quite good on 3 grains a day, though I may split the last one in half and take half at dinner time and half at bedtime. I plan to gradually increase that amount if I feel I need it. One of the things I noticed when I went from 2 1/2 to 3 grains was increased circulation in my feet. My feet are warmer. In the winter that is a nice benefit! However, I also notice that if more than 6 hours go by without taking the Armour I start to feel internally cold and I don't like that feeling! That is why I am planning to split that last dose in two to take it more frequently. Evidently, I am not converting T4 to T3 very well, or I have thyroid resistance or else I am not yet on my optimum dose. Any thoughts about this would be most welcome............ Take it easy everyone and enjoy this special time. May Peace Be With You. Guest guest
HI Bev, Well at my next blood draw we are going to find out why I have to be on such a high dose. I am not sure...yet if I go lower I feel terrible. And remember I am on generic Armour also...it does make a difference. I've been on both and I know for a fact that the Armour is much stronger. So probably if I could afford the brand name I would be on 300/5 grains. Which is still replacement levels. My docs nurse looked at me in shock when I told her what I was on at my last visit last February. I thought to myself...oh dear Lord please don't tell me I have to decrease because you are going to stick to " procedure " . He wanted to drop me a little and I told him absolutely NOT. I've since made up my mind that I am going back to Georgia to the man that diagnosed me in the first place. He would NEVER look at the levels of Armour before looking at how I feel. I left seeing him because of the possibility of having a good doc here in Michigan...well I should have never left. I've talked with Doc Milton in Georgia and he can't wait to see me again...says we have lots of catching up to do. He is the gentleman that told me I am the poster child for Armour because I respond so well to it. He works aggressively...(which I needed, and some women do too) He will get to the bottom of why I need so much. Now I did start taking my meds sublingually again. (I stopped because the generic tastes absolutely horrible compared to the brand name Armour) I got out of the habit. Since I've been taking sublingually and spreading my dosage out...I am feeling a lot better. I take my normal 180 sublingually in the AM. The I take 30 more at noon, 30 more at 3 , 30 more at 6 and 90 an hour before bed. It is making all the difference in the world...and who knows I may have to cut back. I'll be watching my temp to see how it does. If I start getting over a 98.0 reading from basal temp I'll know I am on a little too much of my meds. Usually when there is a resistance of any kind to any meds...insulin, armour, anything.....Your cells need to be " cleaned out " and the best thing to do is to detox. There are many forms of detox...some are extremely hard, some aren't. I've sent a few women to Doctor Milton in Georgia, he would have them detox if there was a resistance and he would see that in their blood work up, muscle testing etc...He put one lady on raw vegi's only. She was absolutely 100% better in a matter of a month. Now each woman is different. You may need detoxing yet I am not sure which one. Detoxing allows your body to " clean it self up " from processed foods that clog cells not letting absorbsion occur. Anything white is considered death. White sugar, salt, flour, anything processed or " enriched " . Is very very bad for us. Celtic Sea Salt is the best form of salt for anyone...especially us thyroid sufferers and it is excellent for adrenal disfunction also. Pure sugar in the raw form is best, and unbleached organic flour is a must. IF a person tends to deliberately stay away from anything processed or " white " they will automatically begin to feel better. It is hard to do as we are surrounded by processed foods. My family and I tried to go this route, not only is it very expensive, it doesn't taste as good. LOL That is just the plain facts. WE felt better, looked healthier and lost much weight too! My hubby is insulin resistant and when he follows his detox/resistant diet....he does so much better. I also believe that your blood type makes a difference in what you should eat also. But that is a whole other ball game LOL I hope I've helped in some way Bev. If you are anywhere near Georgia, you may consider seeing my doc. He has made such a difference in so many womens' lives..he is truly a God send. He saved my life. I'll be happy to give any info about him to anyone that requests it. If you have a top doc list I'd love to add him to it. (if he isn't already) Hugs..PattiSue 29:11 Armour Dosing Hi Patti and EveryOne, Patti wrote: >>>>Dear Bev I have been told by my doc that 300 mg's or 5 grains is considered the amount for replacement dose.
