Guest guest
Hi everyone, I hope you don't mind me copying here a letter my friend posted onto another group. She is desperate for help and getting answers to her questions. Can anybody help out here please? Luv - Sheila ---------------------------------------------- Hi, I have just had back my last test results, TSH 0.03 range 0.4.-4.0 Ft4 24.5 10.3 - 24.5 FT3 4.0 2.3 - 6.5 RT3 611 135-600 ESR 17mm/hr 0 - 20 CRP <5mg/l 0.0. - 6.0 rheumatoid factor - negative Auto-immune profile - negative (testes fro ANA, anti mitochondrial, anti-smooth muscle, anti-gastric parietal, anti-reticulin and anti-liver/kidney microsomal antibodies) also negative for thyroid auto abtibodies (thyroglobulin and microsomal antibodies) Red cell magnesium 1.39 nmol range 2.08 - 300 red cell selenium 81ug/ml range 66- 132 these tests I had with BUPA. Top Doc2 said she would have another RT3 done by NPTech as she did not trust BUPA readings. results of this test were 27.0 range 15- 35 I have rock bottom DHEA (Nptech) low testosterone and progesterone in range for menopausal. cortisol profile over all indicates normal output and normal circadian rhythum. ( a bit high at 8am and 12pm but of no concern) I have been up to 100mgc of thyroxine but felt bad. had t3 added to the 100 Thyroxine felt bad. This was with top Dr1 I have since changed doctors. I was diagnosed as hypo based on symptoms and blood results of :- TSH 1.45 range 0.20 - 4.50 FT4 15.40 range 10.3 - 24.5 No FT3 done Results after taking 100mcg T4 were TS) 0.15 Ft3 18.5 FT3 6.0 range s above. Result when on T4+T3 TSH 0.20 FT4 13.7 FT3 8.3 range as above. TopDr2 thinks I was over medicated and has now put me on 50mcg thyroxine and 10mcg T3 to see how I go... if not well- consider Armour half grain and 50 mcg thyroxine. she also thinks I have a conversion problem. I also take DHEA strated on 25mcg but my hair and skin became very oily so now take it every other day. She is unclear if I need thyroid medication in ther longer term Since starting on thyroxine back last march, I now have symptoms that I NEVER had before these are eyebrow/lashes loss, joints stiff/ache, tingle/burning sensation in hands/feet pain in left bottom of foot (. I have diffuse hairloss (no patches) for the last 2 years this was my reason for going to top Dr1. I am 51 years old, had a total hysterectomy 10 years ago I have been on HRT Oestradiol ever since. I also have lower back pain and pain in my left kdney area, and tinitus all these I have had for many years. Sorry for the extra long post - but I am beginning to feel that I should am not HYPO at all - or was not when given T4... My question is can taking thyroid medication if not needed make you Hypo? What can be causing the eyebrow/lash loss as Dr.says it dose not follow the thyroid style.... can you have eyebrow loss with the NON Hashi type thyroid. Any help would be much appreciated. Naomi. Ps... I take all the Vit/mins fish oil etc.. I also have a crawling/shivering sensation in my scalp. Dry/itchy eyes that my Dr said sould more like an allergy - what could I be allergic to - I neve had this before.
Guest guest
I'm not sure Naomi was hypo either. But it's too bad she was not put on a small amount of Armour in the first place, giving her the T4, T3 plus T2, T1. Has she ever had her testosterone and Ferritin levels checked? Low Ferritin can cause some of the same symptoms. No, being on thyroid meds does not make you hypo. And eyebrow lash does follow hypo, but it's also a result of low Ferritin.
