Guest guest
I'm sorry you feel that way. If you are looking for scientific literature, then this really isn't the list for you... we share... the good and the bad and the everyday stuff. We are a family and probably know more personal stuff about each other than a lot of people in our "real" lives do. I have to disagree with you about this not being a healthy environment for dealing with a medical condition... just knowing that we aren't alone helps me tremendously. Not one of us would disagree that more research needs to be done, but in the meantime we need to do what the doctor's and researchers can't.... that is support one another... that is why it is called a support group. I personally appreciated the thread on dark under eye circles. I look horrible because of the pain and lack of sleep that I get from fibromyalgia, so to me, it is very much a good topic. I'm sorry that you need more concrete evidence and research material in order to be here. I've read tons of it, and none has helped me as much as the friendships I have made here. Good luck with your research and I hope you will think of us if you do find something concrete. Tigger more research.... I'll be heading off this list as I really don't think it serves anyone well to try to make people feel even worse than they already do and give people even more issues to worry about, things in most cases that cannot be changed. Especially when they have to do with superficial appearance. I mean, really. I feel like I am back in grade school. Polls on dark circles under eyes? For what reason? What is the scientific literature on this? According to a lot of the people on this list, fibro is causing just about everything, including inability to read full paragraphs of text, with discussion based on little more than hunches. Now we are on to eye circles. This is not a healthy environment for dealing with any kind of medical condition. Needed is real information and intelligent discussion. The main issue for fibro is that a lot more research is needed to find good management strategies and eventually a cure. Perhaps spending your time writing in support of research (to research organizations and the government) instead of posting about eyebags and under eye discoloration and trying to create a medical issue where in the vast majority of cases there is none would be more helpful. This list has ceased to serve as a place for good information and real support (group fear is not support). Taking my under eye "condition" and signing off in order to focus on finding real information. lol Sara 1. While it is wonderful to share our experiences with everyone on the list as to what treatments do and don't work for us, pls always check with your dr. Some treatments are dangerous when given along with other meds as well as to certain health conditions or just dangerous in general.2. If you are in a difficult situation (doesn't matter what it is) pls don't be afraid to ask for help. It is the first step to trying to make that situation better.Have a nice day everyone. Guest guest
My only response is to say sorry to see you go and that what may seem superficial to you might be very bothersome and problematic to someone else. I don't see the harm in the poll since it took literally 5 seconds of my time. I spend so much time doing "real" research, it's great to have a place to go where the people know what you're going through, and don't always have to be stiff and serious. But, we live in a free country, thank God, and we are all entitled to our own opinions. ~*Kerrie*~ more research.... Guest guest
I second your feelings on the group, Tigger. I find this place to be beneficial in many ways. Lord knows I get so many emails and snail mail newsletters about the research aspect of fibro/CFIDS. Sara- if you have not left yet, have you tried joining the fibromyalgia newsgroups on USENET? Guest guest
Well I am sorry that Sara didn't enjoy the group! I love it and think it has the right mix of support, humour, interest and information. Guest guest
Sara, only you are in a position to make a decision about what is best for you and your health. If this group is not fulfilling any of your needs, it is a good decision you have made to leave. I wish you good health and good fortune. That being said, I think we could have done without your snarky comments. A simple, "sorry, but this group does not meet my needs, thanks" would have sufficed. We discuss our common physical symptoms because we're trying to understand an illness for which there IS very little concrete research. Some of the people here have even said they take some of the things we discuss back to their doctors, so THEY can learn about FMS more too! Only a frank and open discussion is going to get us anywhere in our understanding of this illness. If you think that's trite or silly, that is fine, you're entitled, but it doesn't entitle you to insult anyone here. I for one think this group is a gold mine of support, humor when it's desperately needed, gentle hugs when those are needed, and inspiration to consider physical ailments we've all ignored for a very long time. I wish you well, and I hope that no one ever insults you in your quest to understand FMS.saradm16@... wrote: Taking my under eye "condition" and signing off in order to focus on finding real information. lol SaraAmy Swinderman Live aloha!__________________________________________________
