Guest guest
I think that we all need to keep in mind that the rise in autism and other disorders, is probably due to many different things. Drinking while pregnant is possibly one of many factors. Autism is supposedly genetically related to other disorders such as Bipolar, depression, schizophrenia, etc., and that is a population that is more likely to indulge in drinking, heavy or otherwise. Guest guest
Come to think of it, there's going to be a time when a news headline will say: Breathing will cause autism! Don't get me wrong, I appreciate all the work researchers are trying to do, looking for answers about what causes autism. Nor I minimize the importance of autism research. But all I see is how millions and millions of dollars go to research and so little to community programs to help individuals with autism (across the ages) and their families. No matter what part of the world has taken interest in the world of autism. I don't know about other people, but frankly I'm tired of this disparity! While we wait for the causes to be discovered, many families struggle to find decent programs, fair opportunities to facilitate the paths to our kids' integration into society. No matter what part of the world, I continue to see so much focus on finding the 'right answer', rather than address the issues that are right before our faces. Guest guest
I SOOOOOO AGREE, ALL THE KIDS ARE DIFFERENT, I DON'T THINK THERE IS ONE SPECIFIC CAUSE JUST LOTS OF VARIABLES. BUT WE KNOW THAT CERTAIN THINGS PRODUCE RESULTS AND CAN CHANGE THE RESLTS FOR THE INDIVIDUAL AND THE FAMILIES, I THINK LIKE YOU THAT THE FOCUS IS A LITTLE OFF BASE RIGHT NOW.
