OMG! I was the same way only for me it was OMNI magazine. As a teenager I

spent most of my time in the library trying to get my hands on Scifi

literature.

I once argued with someone that the sun was a star. He insisted it wasn't.

Go figure. I think the possibility of extra terrestrial life scares the

hell out of some people. If it's true it would throw their belief systems

out the window and most people would rather not have to do that. I'm sure

that's why Carl Sagan was on so many conservative hit lists.

DRONES

When I was about 11 I subscribed to " Astronomy " magazine.

I am SO HAPPY that my father took me

to see " 2001... " He knew how interested I was in re: astronomy, Sci-fi, for

'real' stuff by people like Carl Sagan.

.. I think human beings are WAY off the mark when it comes to the possibilty

of

extraterrial life. Every human being assume that 'life' is based on H20. I

think these people should expand their horizons about what an

" extraterristrial being " might require for substanence.

All our 'scientists' think H20 is the key. I digress...I believe that there

is a possibility of a " sentiant " life form that needs to resort to other

means to survive.

Well, I share your interest in the cosmos and Carl Sagan, Trixxi-I

don't pursue as avidly, but I have some of his books.

Did you see the meteor shower on the 16th and 17th? I live out in " los

boonies " and got a pretty clear shot.

Just saw a neat article about some of the pictures Hubble's sending

back-amazing-! It certainly does dwarf one's self-importance, to say

the least!!

Hello Trixxi, Yes, I was a lot like you described when I was a child.

Had to read everything I could get my hands on. Finished the

encyclopedia britanitica somewhere arround age 6. Extremly sharp for my

age. Sci-Fi was alltime favorite, and of course, the three stooges. And

yep, a " Trekker " too. Damm, it's a small world. When I was growing up,

I had a stepfather who would beat the crap out of me on a pretty

regular basis. I can remember how the tension would build as the time

that he would come home from work got closer. It was a daily thing, the

fear and insecurity. At age 13, I found out that booze took all that

away and made me feel like someone. And a lot of booze was even better.

It was the olny way I knew how to drink, to get shattered was the goal.

Numbed all hurt inside, and it followed me into my adult life, the

drinking to oblivion thing. AA just told me I was a drunk, and would

always be a drunk...no hope, just accept the fact that your powerless

and can't do a darn thing right on your own. OK.... I guess, NOT. When

I happened upon apples site, I looked to WHY I drank like did, and all

started to make sense. Don't drink today, have better things to do with

my time, esp. since I have my own will back. Nice chatting with you.

To me, it makes total sense that there are other 'sentiant' beings in OR

NEAR our own solar system. I have been studying this stuff for YEARS. I

think that " us " thinking we are the only 'sentiant' beings in OUR galexy is

just a continued narrow minded thinking attitude.

H20 is 'our' necessity...but I don't think that is a requirement of other

'sentiant' beings. I have thought this for years. Why is it so puzzling,

especially now with discoveries of other solar systems having planetary

systems in the gravitational pull of a star (sun)?

If anyone is interested in this go to www.planetary.org

What a bunch of 'crap' ! A star is a star. Our " star " is a G class

designated star. Whoever argued against that must be totally ignorant of

any scietific knowledge about stars.

Gee! Sorry for the inaccurate spelling! Being I get the generic form now, it

only says " alprazolam " !!! But being that I have been on the stuff since

1985, I should have know better!

At least I got the " X " correctly. My last 12-step " counselor spelled it

" Zanex " . Next time I will look in the PDR for correct spelling.

What in the #$%! is with this spelling deal? I have been on this list for

quite awhile now and have seen NUMEROUS posts with misspellings. I even

wrote a message with a disclaimer stating " sorry for the misspellings - I

think it is irrelevant. "

If anyone thinks I have a case of the " ass " about this, well you are RIGHT

ON THE MARK.

I have suffered too damn much abuse from XA etc. etc.etc.

I don't carry a dictionary in my back pocket. So if ANYONE doesn't like my

" insufficent lack of grammatical success " , just hit <DEL>.

Jeez oh pete - @#$%!
