Guest guest
Hi Jamy. The tests you are doing look great. It might provide more clues. But to say you need more T4 when your T3 is low makes no sense to me!! And frankly, I have never thought you were on enough Armour in the first place. Aren't you only on 1 1/2 grains? Jamy, Dr. Derry has done some great articles about the fact that most hypo patients, before the TSH came out, were on 3 grains and more!! That doesn't mean that everyone here should increase to 3 grains. But it does point to the idea that we all may need more Armour than we realized, and that the VAST majority of modern docs have lost site of that because they pay TOO much attention to the TSH, too little attention to the free T3, AND too little attention to lingering symptoms!! T4 is a STORAGE HORMONE, and he is making the assumption that you will convert it well enough to raise that T3. But you can potentially raise that T3 by increasing your Armour! And, if you got a lot higher with the Armour than you are now, and your T3 was still low, you would add Cytomel to your Armour, NOT T4. And you can have a low Ferritin and how normal looking iron levels, according to the experience of some folks here. Let us know how it all turns out. Guest guest
Thanks. I thought the bit about adding the t4 sounded strange too. He thought my med level was too low period. I am sure I am lower than on my last test. It is time for an increase. The iron issue and low cortisol can inhibit my free t3 conversion. We will see after I get my tests back. Jamy Hi Jamy. Guest guest
Well I am up to over 2 grains now, but it seems other people not even at their " sweet spot " dose feel better. Jamy > I have to say the Armour helps some, but it has not been the great >thing for me that everyone said it would be. Jamy, I'm sure you know this, but it's not Armour that's the problem. It's the fact that you are not on enough. And hopefully, as you continue your slow rise due to your sensitivity to the T3, you'll eventually get it much higher........and then it will be the great thing for you that it is for everyone else! Guest guest
It's not the Armour that's the problem, though. It's that you have other issues to correct, and you need a lot more Armour. When I was on a good dose of Armour a year ago, I had miserably low Ferritin and felt awful. You'll get there!! Guest guest
Yeah, I'm trying. In just a year I have gone through 6 DR's. I will feel better again.
