Guest guest
Hi and Tina, Our daughter could not process any formula or breast milk at all after 4 months of age and had to be put on Pregestimil. This formula saved her life. Her internal bleeding and diarrhea stopped finally when she started this formula. From that information I can only guess that Kendra has serious digestive problems. The Pregestimil is broken down into amino acids and is very easy to process. If you are looking at changing formulas, I would consider looking at this one rather than one of the standard ones such as Prosobee. In terms of the weight loss, it sounds like there is no diarrhea or vomiting presently. That is very interesting. What do blood tests say about the possibility of glucose problems or unidentified infections? I hope you find good answers very soon. Best wishes, Mom to Kendra, CHARGE, 15, , 21 and Camille, 24 At 01:00 AM 4/3/02 +0000, you wrote: >I am sorry that i don't have time to answer any of your question's, >but between the goat farm and the grandchildren i haven't found time. >We have a problem with Brittney (Tina's daughter). Guest guest
, About the best advice I can give is just to keep trying different formulas until you find one that Britt tolerates. It took some time for us, and we finally ended up using Vivonex Pediatric (very broken down & easy to digest) for Kennedy. At 4 she weighs about 38 lbs so she is VERY healthy and has grown well. There are many other formulas out there, pediasure, peptamen jr, etc...it's just a matter of finding which suits her the best. Good luck and I hope she starts tolerating her food & growing very soon... Hugs, Weight Loss I am sorry that i don't have time to answer any of your question's, but between the goat farm and the grandchildren i haven't found time. We have a problem with Brittney (Tina's daughter). After they did the Neilsen surgery on her a couple of months ago, she has been losing weight. When they did the surgery they changed her milk to Enfamil with iron. Needless to say the milk just went right straight through her. So they change her back to NeoSure. But she hasn't done nothing but lose weight. She is in the hospital, but they haven't found anything medically to cause her to lose. She is 9 months old and weighs 11lbs. They are talking about changing her milk again to Prosobee. If anyone out there has had this problem could you please give us some insight on what could possibly be the problem. We need all the information we can get. Thank you for all of your answers. And my God Bless each and everyone of your children and family's. Guest guest
Hi and Tina, I am quite new to the CHARGE life?, shy of 18 mo. but I will share what I can- (17 3/4 mo.) has not tolerated changes in her diet well. It HAD to be a 'gradual' change or else- Another fact about , she always losses weight after a surgery. Her digestive system is very 'messed up' after a surgery/anesthesia (for month(s) thereafter). Thankfully God has blessed us with patience - 1cc every 5-10 minutes throughout the night type thing. She does have drip/pump feedings for overnight, but does not tolerate it well after a surgery (she requires much more venting then). Lots of TLC! venting, patience and THERAPY 'seems' to get her back 'on track.' This has been frustrating. Basically we feel that we keep her hydrated during those times, but not gaining weight. Diluting her formula has helped, alternating Pedialite/formula (small amounts at a time). No 'regular' bolus feedings work well for after a surgery-it's very gradual....... has a gtube and nissen fundoplication. Is Brittney on antibiotics? We have yet to find an antibiotic that we can give for the recommended amount of duration- stools and stools..........: ( Do you have a nutritionist or pediatric dietitian following Brittney? A gastroenterologist? You may want to mention CHARGE. has been our Isomil babe for a while now, as we too fear the next change or step -- and surgery. Hope Brittney is home soon! God Bless her and the family. Hugs, Jan H. Mom to (shy 18 mo.) CH(A?)RGE Wife to MN

Guest guest
Hi Bobby and EveryOne, I know what you mean. I can only lose weight if I eat about 1,000 calories a day or less and even then the weight loss is slow - about a pound a week, four pounds a month. However it does stay off once it is gone if I am careful. Up until I became Hypothyroid I used to have a very fast metabolism and be able to eat whatever I wanted. It seems to me that those with very slow metabolism ( I burn about 1350 calories a day) have very little choice about eating many calories and still trying to lose weight. It does help to eat several small meals a day, drink water, and by all means eat the best quality foods and supplements. For me at least, the only way I could lose weight at all was to eat less than 1,000 cal/day. Personally I would prefer to do that voluntarily and then be able to eat normally again when at my ideal weight than to have surgery and have no choice! If I had a lot of weight to lose I would alternate the low calories every few months with a month of eating enough just to maintain my weight. Slow weight loss is better than none. Some people seem to do well on Atkins type diet Low Carb but I wanted a diet I could live with. Basically I wanted to retrain my eating habits to maintain the weight I want. There are others who can and do lose weight eating more than that but I am not one of them. I tried alternatives and gained weight on every one. I even tried fasting for two weeks before I went on Armour and didn't lose an ounce!!! I am still tweaking my Armour dose, but 3 grains is right for now. I lost most of the weight on none or less than that. I just went to 3 grains a few weeks ago. BTW I also find it necessary not to eat any snacks after dinner. That is my weakness and it makes it hard to drop the pounds.
