Guest guest
Sorry to post so late - becoming habit - so others may have already replied. My UC is about the same since tx 4 months ago. The high dose of prednisone helped some but I think my body became used to it and now I am back to normal, so to speak. Some have looser stools due to the Urso, which you may take after tx. There's a theory that taking Urso after tx may help the liver long term and reduce the risk of reoccurrence of PSC. I'll attach the article if you like. I think Andi sent it some time ago and I saved it to show my dr. They put back on Urso, pre-tx dose of 1500/day, which I think is a bit high but they want to stay with it until at least 6 months to a year and then drop me to a lower dosage. I take magnesium supplements, currently 9000 mg/day - yes that is right. My levels are constantly around 1.7, which is a bit low. The prograf makes it difficult for the liver to absorb magnesium. I have found that mag oxide gives me the " flare-ups " but the mag gluconate does not. Jim (Maureen) is not on mag supplements, so it may vary from center to center, although, my tx coordinator thought that was strange. Maybe Jim's levels are fine, but mine were not. Hope that helps.
