Researchers: Shea protein does not trigger allergic reactions

Researchers found that proteins in shea nuts — which the FDA classifies as a

tree nut that could pose allergy risks — did not trigger an immune response

among people who are allergic to nuts. The study suggests that shea

nut-derived butter, which is found in diaper creams, baby lotion and other

products, may not threaten the body's immune system.
