Guest guest
Well , you have certainly hit a chord in all of us, and we are majorly ticked off. Reread the DEAR DOCTOR in the files section before you call this doctor back tomorrow. Call early, too. And yes, be prepared that you may need another doc. Doc's are incredibly ignorant about Armour and good thyroid treatment. You are not alone-- we have all been through this in one way or another. Guest guest
Hi , I can actually feel your disappointment...I am so sorry. : ( What state do you live in hun? I have a list of the U.S. and all the T3 docs...and top docs and we may be able to pinpoint a good doc for you. I am in Michigan, and sadly there really isn't anyone that is worth toting. I have to travel to Georgia to get good help. Please let me help if I can. (hugs) Patti Sue Please keep your chin up..you are going to get help and be better in no time. WE are all here for you. Dr. refused Armour! I am so upset! Today was the day I was going to get my first prescription for Armour thyroid! I called first thing this morning at 8am and discribed to the nurse what I needed. I used as many technical terms as I could (as I had the information in front of me from this group) and she said the doctor would get back to me. Six hours later, I called again to see and the nurse said the doctor (she is a young doctor, obgyn and family medicine) who stated she wanted to increase my synthroid and did not feel armour was a good choice. I was so upset, I restated what I said about needing T-3 and that I would find a new doctor if necessary, but I will get the ARMOUR!!!!!!! The irony is that the nurse is hypo, and related to everything I said. All I can think of is that I could be starting my first dose tomorrow. Now, I will have to find a new doctor, get my records, wait for an appointment, etc. This sucks. Thanks for listening, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Hi everyone, Thank you for all the support. Yes, I will get the help I need, I know I have choices. I called my doctor again today, the nurse called me back and said the doctor will NOT prescribe armour. I asked the reasons and she did not know why, just that all the doctors prescribe synthroid. She did say the doctor would give me a referral to an endocrinologist (but she said, they even prefer synthroid). I am contacting my friend who runs a herb store here in town (I live in NW Pennsylvania) who may be able to help me. She may know doctors who will prescibe armour. I found out my Free T-4 is 1.67, but they did not test for T-3 (or the nurse couldn't find it on my results). I have hope and determination. I will not stop until I get the right medication!! I told the nurse, " would you want a medication that only works 50% or would you get something that helps you feel better? " I know I can go online and get armour, and I will if I cannot find a doctor. Thanks for all the support. I am so grateful. You are kind, and generous people. Guest guest
Yes, He is in West Bloomfield Hills, Michigan along with Dr. Ng. They both get wonderful results. I do not see them because I cannot afford them My insurance will not cover them and they do charge quite a bit. : ( They are on our top doc list here for the state of MIchigan. Guest guest
Maybe the next time you call you can ask something like: How much money are the makers of Synthroid giving to Drs so that they will ONLY prescribe Synthroid. Make it sound as though the only reason why they prescribe Synthroid is because of the money. The other thing you can do is to tell the Dr that you PROMISE to listen to your symptoms and if anything unusual happens on armour you will call them ASAP. Remind them that Armour has been around for over 100 years. As a last ditch resort while you are waiting see if your Dr will prescribe Thyrolar - it is synthetic T3/T4 - made by the same company that makes Armour. I know it's not the same thing but it's the next best thing if you want Armour. Louise PS Before you even make an appointment with the endo they referred you to call their office to see if they prescribe Armour. > I called my doctor again today, the nurse > called me back and said the doctor will NOT prescribe armour. Guest guest
Thank you again everyone, I did call Dr. Kerry and made an appointment. The quickest he could see me was Jan. 23rd. I am very happy!!! He was the closest dr. (1hour away) from me. I know someday if I continue to learn about hypothyroid, T-levels, and more about symptoms, that I will be able to dose myself with armour. thanks to all, S. > , > I know a doctor in NW PA that will prescribe Armour... Guest guest
I am really disappointed in my Dr. and actually the city I live in. I would not have believed this unless I was living it. The good thing is, I have involved my mother (who is also hypo) and she may be willing to try Armour now. We will see, it is her choice. I hope my doctor doesn't need my business--I won't return!!!!
