Guest guest
Ask to speak with the DR. Ask the DR why the no Armour? What was your free t3 level or free t4? Dr. refused Armour! I am so upset! Today was the day I was going to get my first prescription for Armour thyroid! I called first thing this morning at 8am and discribed to the nurse what I needed. I used as many technical terms as I could (as I had the information in front of me from this group) and she said the doctor would get back to me. Six hours later, I called again to see and the nurse said the doctor (she is a young doctor, obgyn and family medicine) who stated she wanted to increase my synthroid and did not feel armour was a good choice. I was so upset, I restated what I said about needing T-3 and that I would find a new doctor if necessary, but I will get the ARMOUR!!!!!!! The irony is that the nurse is hypo, and related to everything I said. All I can think of is that I could be starting my first dose tomorrow. Now, I will have to find a new doctor, get my records, wait for an appointment, etc. This sucks. Thanks for listening, ------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Guest guest
Welcome to the world of being treated like hypochondriac, stupid , emotionally disturbed people. The sad part I that we are doing 10x the research of even good DR that treats thyroid patients. What is it that Janie is Called, thyrodiva, well trust me, I have become thyroid bitch. You need to take a deep breath, get your articles together and remember not to get emotional when you speak to the DR, but be clear and in a quiet way, explain that you are not doing well now. That you want to try Armour since it is clear doing what you have been doing is keeping you sick. Remember, the one with the check book is the boss. You pay them, they work for you. Guest guest
, I know a doctor in NW PA that will prescribe Armour... Dr. Roy Kerry. He is on the top doc list and has an office in Portersville and Greenville. ...not sure which office that number is for though. He is an ENT but knows all about thyroid problems and will treat you buy symptoms not numbers. If you have any questions feel free to e-mail me. Guest guest
Maybe the next time you call you can ask something like: How much money are the makers of Synthroid giving to Drs so that they will ONLY prescribe Synthroid. Make it sound as though the only reason why they prescribe Synthroid is because of the money. The other thing you can do is to tell the Dr that you PROMISE to listen to your symptoms and if anything unusual happens on armour you will call them ASAP. Remind them that Armour has been around for over 100 years. As a last ditch resort while you are waiting see if your Dr will prescribe Thyrolar - it is synthetic T3/T4 - made by the same company that makes Armour. I know it's not the same thing but it's the next best thing if you want Armour. Louise PS Before you even make an appointment with the endo they referred you to call their office to see if they prescribe Armour. > I called my doctor again today, the nurse > called me back and said the doctor will NOT prescribe armour. I > asked the reasons and she did not know why, just that all the doctors > prescribe synthroid. She did say the doctor would give me a referral > to an endocrinologist (but she said, they even prefer synthroid). I > am contacting my friend who runs a herb store here in town (I live in > NW Pennsylvania) who may be able to help me. She may know doctors > who will prescibe armour. I found out my Free T-4 is 1.67, but they > did not test for T-3 (or the nurse couldn't find it on my results). > > I have hope and determination. I will not stop until I get the right > medication!! Guest guest
My regular doctor refused to prescribe natural thyroid too. Gave me the usual cock and bull story. He said it wasn't stable enough and that too much or too little thyroid medication could cause heart problems or osteoporosis. Yeah, right. So, since there wasn't a top doc on the sites that took my insurance, I asked my local pharmacist if he dispensed Armour to anyone. He said he had 2 patients on it. (It's a small neighborhood pharmacy.) I asked him if he could tell me who the prescribing doctors were. It was the same doc for both. I got the docs name, called and got an appointment. I've been on Armour for about 3 weeks now. I called my old doctor's office and told the nurse that I appreciated everything she had done for me and that I really did like the doctor and would recommend him to anyone that wasn't hypothyroid. :-) Joy «:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:»§«:*´`³¤³´`*:» http://www.CelestialNymph.com
